The Circle of Life
A family friend passed away this weekend. He was also the OB who delivered my oldest, he was present at the birth of my DS and he was the mohel who performed R's bris. He was diagnosed with Melanoma after DD was born and it has been a long 3 years of declining health. I think R's bris was the last he performed 3 years ago ( Read more... ) -
Allergies
R had a mysterious allergy break-out at school on Wednesday. He does this extra cooking class after lunch and the teachers are really careful about ingredients. They were making bread pudding using white bread, milk, eggs, sugar and cinnamon. At some point his eyes puffed up and he got these red welts on his cheek. R had his 3 year old check up yesterday. He's 36" and 31.5lbs. 10th percentile for height, 50th for weight and 75th for head size. He's got a funky growth curve and he bounces from the 10th percentile to the 25th almost each measurement. R got a new-to-him bike yesterday. A friend whose kid is actually 4 months younger than R had gotten a new bike for Hanukkah and had his 10 inch/no brakes bike, so they gave it to R. R had been doing great on the tricycle lately (granted it is his sister's pink and purple trike, but hey) and wasn't too thrilled about moving on, but he did. We ( Read more... ) -
Catching Up
Back to the routine... I've been able to write more in the past few weeks because DH had his laptop home during vacation and I'd sit with the kids and catch up during the day. Not so much anymore ( Read more... ) -
Happy New Year!
Our Hanukkah/New Year's Party was tons of fun. Absolutely total chaos. There were 14 kids, all under the age of 6 and 16 adults. All my food turned out yummy. I made brisket for the first time. It was my grandmother's recipe and I've seen my mom make it a bunch, but I've never actually tried. Loved my new electric skillet for fying latkes. I ( Read more... ) -

It seems like tonight was the first night of Hanukkah. Even though it was the third, this was the first time I actually brought out their whole stack of gifts from mommy & daddy. The first night they had a joint gift and last night we were at my mom's. We had some friends over for an impromptu dinner and they had brought gifts for their kids. C ( Read more... ) -

One of C's fish died this afternoon. I could see it coming. He was drifting near the top the few times I had looked this morning, so I wasn't all that surprised to find him dead by 3PM. Our garage door broke today. Really broke, I mean it's laying in pieces on the floor of the garage. It's one of those metal track roll up type doors. Thankfully it happened when we had some friends over and the two men were able to dismantle the whole thing without it crashing onto my car.
