I am usually not a big fan of a tapestry but today i came close to seeing one that was nearly perfect. Here is some food for thought: why isnt there more stories that are like woven tapestries? And why did the metaphor of literature as a tapestry fall out of favor?

David Edelstein has an interesting critique of "Million Dollar Baby" in Slate.

As i thought about "The Passion," it occurred to me that there are some parallels between it and "Hamlet." Both are stories of sons who are guided by fathers from the beyond to do grisly things. Incidentally, Mel Gibson starred in a screen adaptation of "Hamlet" in early 1990s.

Interesting, isn't it?

I thought I might go to the movies today, but there are five films i want to see for the price of one ticket, which means i should have started seeing them before noon. Saw "Stardust Memories"...for the second time. Jeez. I had forgotten how brilliant this movie is. I'm still trying to beat down my incipient crush on Charlotte Rampling.
