You know...half of the time when I look at your digital art, I'm usually just sitting here and staring. Trying to figure out how you get all the colors to work so well together. Like...if you have a certain pattern or way of doing it all, or if it's all completely random (kind of like with speed painting?).
I think my main issue is that I try to block all my colors, rather than mixing them around. I think it's part of my whole OCD issue xD I focus too much on making sure everything has a specific place, rather than just free ranging it and being INTERESTING, lawl. Hm...I must look into this -looks inquisitive-
Anyway, I say it all the time, but I really love your style and the way you rock out the colors! Love the Luca concept too btw. His face x3
God no its so stupid, I just pick a bg and color over it, as simple as that. All of these are done on a max of 3 layers, one for the bg/ texture, one for the colors and one for last like for glasses or something if there are details I don't want to paint up-front. I just choose a skin color that fits the description and gives nice contrast and try to make it work with the bg colors, thats what makes a character look like its grounded in its environment as far as my meager knowledge gets me... Also some things like bringing red to the eyes and nose and wherever blood is closer to the surface, rules like that
( ... )
Your coloring has gotten so freaking good. Like... your portraits are incredible. So much awesome lighting and depth to the faces and the clothing... ♥ My vocabulary sucks today, but you know what I mean.
This post is far from boring, but if you qualify it as boring than you should post boring more often.
I love the last little candid of Luca because everything is very solid. It has a lot of depth to is, and nothing looks flat or like it's floating in space. The lighting's all the same too, it looks like I could reach out and touch it. Wicked groovy.
The shading and features on your commissions are just getting better and better! I like Landor's eyelids, they're the sleepy kind I like on characters :)
You are so dedicated to your art, even just Meek speculative uniforms cannot be lame if you do it :D
:C I used to as well... I made a rule of no eating after 7 though, but now I kinda break it by drinking soda and shit late at night, which is just as bad D:
