Notes: Sorry for the delay... this is a pretty long chapter, and yesterday’s album art drama was pretty epic to say the least! After the heartbreak and misery of the last chapter, I thought I’d lighten the mood with some hot Kradam phone-sex. Enjoy!
Previous chapters:
Chapter 1: A conversation with a chat-show shrink makes Kris finally realize the feelings he’d been hiding in the deepest, darkest part of his mind for months
Chapter 2: Kris searches for the right words to tell Adam his feelings, but it isn’t an easy task. How exactly can he tell Adam he wants to stick his tongue down his throat when he can’t even get his tongue to function enough to speak..?
Chapter 3: Still unable to find the right words to tell Adam, Kris decides to let their bodies do the talking during a seemingly innocent cuddle in Adam’s bed.
Chapter 4: While a blissful Kris dreams of a Disney-style happily ever after, in contrast Adam can’t help worrying that his perfect life is about to come crumbling down
Chapter 5: Kris is relieved when his family accept his relationship with Adam, but he soon learns that not everybody back home is as open-minded
‘It was totally careless and irresponsible of you both to get caught like that!’
‘Oh come on, it’s not like we were making out on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards,’ Adam quipped, glancing at Kris and rolling his eyes. ‘Although, that would be kinda fun...’
‘This is no laughing matter!’ one of Simon Fuller’s minions exclaimed, sitting very straight-faced opposite Adam and Kris in the board room of 19E headquarters with three equally-serious colleagues. ‘This is serious business we’re talking about. You’ve both seen the media circus going on right now.’
Kris nodded silently, he knew all too well. After TMZ posted the photo a couple of days ago, bloggers and fans alike around the globe had gone crazy. They’d been breaking news on CNN, remained a trending topic on Twitter ever since, and caused Idol Forums to crash. It was the most epic thing to happen in the Idol-sphere since, well, probably when Adam’s album cover had leaked.
After what had seemed like the longest flight to LA in history where even the cabin crew and pilot had announced over the tannoy that ‘Hollywood’s hottest new couple’ were on board seated in row K, they’d touched down to a storm of media waiting at LAX. Fortunately, a rep from 19E had been waiting with two large black blankets and a speedy getaway car so that the most talked about couple in the country could get home unnoticed, where they’d remained for the last 48 hours with all curtains drawn and bodyguards outside ready to dispose of sneaky photographers.
‘All publicity is good publicity, huh?’ Kris spoke up, trying to be optimistic about the situation. ‘Surely our record sales must have rocketed since this has gotten out?’
‘Initially, yes,’ the stressed-looking exec replied. ‘But the long-term outlook is not so bright. After the initial wave of sales diminishes, your fan base will desert you in droves. You can forget performing at any state fairs in the Bible Belt next summer unless you want bottles pelted at you.’
‘Hey, cut that out,’ Adam shot with a look of annoyance and reaching across to clutch Kris’s hand. ‘The poor guy got enough crap at the weekend, he doesn’t need this!’
The exec raised an eyebrow knowingly. ‘I’m just stating facts.’
Any rainbows-and-roses romantic fantasies Kris had dreamt up during his blissful first week dating Adam had now been swiftly replaced with the harsh reality of the matter. He knew they were in for a rough road ahead. He knew that plenty of his fans would still love and support him, especially the tin-hat wearing variety who were already peeing their pants in excitement at the news. But he knew that for every liberal-minded fan that didn’t care who he was sleeping with as long as he still came out with kick-ass tunes, there were ignorant morons who were probably burning their copies of his record right at that moment while chanting prayers to ‘save’ him.
‘And Adam,’ Kris went on. ‘He’s always gone for the shock factor, it’s part of his image. Surely this will only boost his career..?’
The exec didn’t look so sure. ‘The bloggers are already bitching about how he’s a marriage-wrecker and corrupted sweet little Kris Allen.’
‘There’s nothing sweet and innocent about the Kris Allen I know,’ Adam cut in, smirking at Kris and stroking his thigh.
The exec shot them an annoyed look. ‘Well, we’ve already started the damage control.’
‘Damage control?’ Kris asked, glancing at Adam.
The exec nodded, opening a plastic folder and producing a bunch of papers. ‘Simon emailed me this morning from London with the brief.’
‘Oh yeah?’ Adam responded, wrinkling his nose and shifting uncomfortably in his seat. ‘And..?’
‘Well, if you really must continue seeing each other, it has to be strictly behind closed doors.’
Adam jumped up from his seat angrily ready to respond, but Kris reached out to restrain him.
‘And if Kris wants to continue living at your house, Adam, he cannot be seen entering the property.’
‘What..?!’
‘Don’t worry, to make it easier we’ll get decoy car with blacked-out windows so the press don’t know it’s him driving in and out.’
Kris glanced at Adam with the urge to laugh, realizing how stupid the whole thing sounded. ‘Right, but how do we explain the photo of us sucking each others faces? Oh, all the other Idols were hiding in the back seat playing a game of spin the bottle with us?!’
Adam reached across the table and grabbed the press statement, which answered Kris’s question. ‘A few days ago, a grainy photograph that appeared to show American Idol Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert kissing appeared on several internet showbiz blogs. The picture turns out to be merely a clever photo-shopped effort made by an over-enthusiastic fan of the pair. Kris and Adam confirm that they are both happy with their existing partners and find the whole drama very amusing, confirming that they will always be close friends, but not that close.’
‘Bullshit,’ Kris mumbled, his pissed expression mirrored by Adam. ‘You can’t put words in our mouths like that. I’m not signing any release on that crap. I want to make my own statement to say how happy I am to be with Adam.’
‘Too late, it’s already been issued to the press.’
Adam slammed the statement down on the table and stood up. ‘We’re leaving.’
‘You are,’ the exec replied with a smug smile. ‘Your cars are waiting outside, ready to take you out to dinner.’
‘How thoughtful,’ Adam retorted, grabbing Kris’s hand and leading him towards the door.
‘Oh, but you won’t be alone.’
Both stopped in their tracks. ‘Huh?’
The exec rustled around in his pile of papers and produced a glossy headshot of a pretty blonde girl. ‘Kris, I’m sure you’ll love your dinner date. She seemed like a lovely girl when I spoke to her on the phone this morning.’
‘Is this all part of Simon Fuller’s ‘damage control’ then?’ Adam asked angrily.
‘Simon is a smart guy, he knows what he’s doing,’ the exec went on. ‘Make sure you’re nice to the paparazzi, lots of sweet smiles, oh and definitely lots of hand holding and kissing.’
Adam let out a nervous laugh. ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. Well, if we’ve got to put up with this dumb charade then I’d at least better have an equally-hot male model to take me out to dinner. Small, Southern and with a cute ass would be nice.’
‘Yes, I’d say that fits his description.’
Kris glanced at Adam, open-mouthed and clearly not pleased at the farcical they were being put through.
‘Drake said he’s really missed you and can’t wait to be on TMZ again.’
‘Drake?!’ Adam exclaimed. ‘What the fuck, I can’t believe you’ve dragged my ex into this stupid mess...’
Kris reached out and put a comforting arm around Adam. ‘Look, we don’t have to do any of this.’ The last thing he wanted was to make Adam live a lie. He knew how much Adam prided himself on being so open and honest.
‘No Kris,’ Adam insisted, looking back at Kris sincerely. ‘You’ve had enough crap over the past few days and you don’t need any more. If this keeps the press off the scent for a little longer, then as much as I hate living a lie and all this hush-hush bullcrap, I’ll do it for you.’
Both exited the building and walked reluctantly to their awaiting cars.
Kris slid in the backseat next to the model, not even knowing her name and not really caring.
‘So, um... are you excited about going for dinner?’ Kris asked, his best attempt at polite small-talk.
‘Oh, totally!’ the model gushed, flashing her blindingly-white veneers. ‘I get to go to a cool restaurant for a free meal and get to appear in all the gossip magazines on the arm of a celebrity! So freaking awesome!’
Kris rolled his eyes, wondering how he was going to sit through three courses of this.
And walk into the restaurant holding her hand and grinning for the photographers 19E had conveniently tipped-off.
As the model launched into her acting resume and reeled off the list of closeted gay celebrities she’d previously ‘dated’, Kris got his iPhone out his pocket and sent a desperate text to Adam.
Please help keep me sane though the next few hours!!!!!
He was relieved to feel his phone vibrate a couple of minutes later. His lips curled into a smile as he silently read the reply.
Do you think you’ll be able to eat, keep your date entertained and have dirty phone sex with me all at the same time?
Kris grinned away as he typed his response.
Oh Adam, didn’t you once tell me that Gemini’s are great multi-taskers...?
*
Adam was happy that 19E had chosen his favourite Martini bar on Fairfax as the destination of his ‘date’, certainly in need of a few stiff drinks to get him through the next couple of hours.
‘You know, they offered to pay me,’ Drake whispered as they held hands and walked past the over-excited photographers camping in the doorway at Lola’s Martini Bar.
Adam shot the cameras a big, plastered-on smile as they walked inside to their seat by the window, still in full view of the paparazzi. ‘And did you accept..?’
‘Of course not,’ Drake laughed, scanning the menu. ‘Just seeing you again is enough for me. Hey, how long do you think we’re supposed to stick around? We can always head back to my apartment after a few drinks...’
Adam shot him an annoyed look. ‘You’re fucking kidding, right?’ He softened when he saw how genuinely sad Drake looked. ‘Oh look sweetie, I am really grateful for you stepping in and, erm, helping out in this kinda bizarre situation. I’d rather it be you than some annoying fame-whore wannabe I’ve never met.’
They ordered their drinks and Adam checked his phone to see if Kris had responded.
Ur right, I’m a great multi-tasker. You also taught me that Gemini’s have a thing about talking dirty ;)
Adam licked his lips and rushed to type a reply.
Correct, and I know ur a typical Gemini. So go ahead, keep me entertained...
The waitress returned with Adam’s strong kiwi Martini and he quickly gulped half of it down, knowing he’d need a lot of alcohol to get through his ‘date’. As much as he still cared for Drake and enjoyed his company, the whole idea of covering up his relationship with Kris made him feel like a complete hypocrite.
He’d always stuck to his strong principles before when it came to be honest and open with the public. He’d been so relieved when 19E had supported his decision to come out so soon after Idol ended, and that they had no issues with him spilling his secrets to Rolling Stone or posing as an androgynous alien on his album cover. After all of that, he couldn’t believe they were so against his relationship with Kris.
Well, he could believe it. He knew they were ultimately a business, and he and Kris were the products. He could understand their argument, and knew that as sad as it was, Kris would lose some fans. Not wanting to put Kris through yet more crap after such a terrible experience in Arkansas, he’d let his principles slide and gone along with the whole charade.
He just hoped they wouldn’t have to keep it up for long.
‘...So as I was saying,’ Drake drawled, trying to gain Adam’s attention, ‘I went to the Beverly Center yesterday and they had a sale on in Diesel, so I stocked up on some white tank tops...’
‘Like you need any more,’ Adam quipped, mind wandering as Drake went on to describe his shopping spree. His mood perked up when he felt his phone vibrate.
Can’t wait for u to get home. The second u get in the door I’m gonna slam u against the wall and take u in my mouth until u explode.
Adam’s eyes almost popped out as he read the text. Kris had turned into such a horny... animal since they’d started dating, and things were getting hotter and hotter every night as they explored one another and learnt each other’s turn ons.
And he certainly knew what Kris’s top turn-ons were. Adam felt himself getting aroused as he typed his reply.
Fuck, I can’t wait! Then after you’ve finished with me, I’m going to lay u on the bed and lick my way down u from ur neck, all down ur chest until I reach Not-So-Little Kris ;)
‘Quit playing with your phone, the cameras are still on us,’ Drake warned. ‘We’ve got to at least try and make this shit look real.’
Adam nodded reluctantly and shuffled closer to Drake and held his hand. ‘I’m gonna need another drink in a minute,’ he sighed, wishing the photographers outside the window would spot a D list reality TV star across the street and leave him alone.
His phone buzzed again and Adam nearly choked on his Martini as he read the reply.
Not-So-Little Kris is getting excited already, how is Not-So-Little Adam doing in those tight pants? Bet he’s starting to burst out already in anticipation...
‘Hey, am I missing something here?’ Drake asked, raising an eyebrow.
Adam smirked and put his phone back in the pocket of his tight, bulging pants. ‘Oh, nothing.’
Two more Martinis down the line and a whole session of phone sex later, Adam was dying to go home. ‘Do you think they have enough photos of us now?’ he moaned, feeling hornier than ever after Kris’s rather graphic text messages.
He felt his phone go off again and reached into his pocket, excited to see what Kris had sent him.
Just got home. Hurry up, this is what’s waiting for u...
Adam started at the photo Kris had attached, hoping there wasn’t going to be much traffic on the roads.
‘Drake, call for our cabs please... and make it fast!’
