Reflection of the evening, talked about briefly with Chris: while there are some YA must-reads out there that won't make you bawl your eyes out, they're in the minority. Hello, teenagers/pre-teens! Coming of age does not have to be a heart-rending experience, but if it is we usually don't write about it.
Good God. The New York Times has a section up of responses to the Prop 8 decision from five different law professors, but one, titled Promoting the Ideal of Procreation just made me incensed. This woman is advancing the argument that same-sex marriages are inferior and needn't be recognized because they can't produce biological children. She calls

I turned in the last paper for my class two weeks ago. I didn't do as good a job on it as I could have, and before that I'd been sitting on an A-/B+ (not counting class participation, also yet to be graded then). I was hoping for the A- overall, bracing for the B+. Grades were posted today
