Hiking and such
Took the first part of the weekend for a quick backpacking trip out to Azalea Lake in the Red Buttes wilderness in northern California. My hiking partner, Otter, and I made the 6 mile hike out in about 3 hours, which is pretty standard for us, really ( Read more... ) -
Change in lifestyles and computer gaming.
Over the last few weeks, A and I have been experimenting with the Primal Blueprint lifestyle. We've cut out a lot of the grains and almost all the processed carbs from our diets, focusing mainly on meat, fruit and veggies. So far, A's blood sugar has leveled out, and I've lost about 25 pounds ( Read more... ) -
Another couple weeks down.
Well, I'll pick up with a brief summary of what's been going on.
I went on my PCT hike, but Otter and I only made it to Hyatt Lake, about 25 miles. Which isn't bad for our first attempt. Lessons were learned, and we'll do better next time. For all that, though, it was a rather gorgeous hike.

One day to go
I'm finishing up my last day of the weekend tomorrow at work, then I'm off on a 2 1/2 week vacation. The first 5 days are going to be spent on the trail. I'm hiking from Pilot Rock to Mt. McLoughlin here in southern Oregon. It's a trip of 50 miles ( Read more... ) -

Quick update
Otter and I went on our first overnight backpacking expedition this past Monday. Hiked to the top of Old Blue Mountain between Rogue River and Applegate. Good times were had, lessons were learned and photos were taken:

Preparations
Looking at my life recently, I noticed that it's much easier for me to just put up a quick status update on my Facebook page instead of typing something in here that's actually, you know, thought out and stuff. That, and my life isn't really all that interesting ( Read more... )
