I just canceled Henry's guitar lessons*, and I'm having some problem with their record keeping versus what makes sense to me. We went to see Where the Wild Things Are last night.  This morning, my kids were still freaking out about the whole "Carol ripped off Douglas's arm" thing.

This jacket totally reminds me of the funky navy blue jacket and skirt that I made for myself in college.  I made a lot of my clothes back then, and the lace that I used for the sleeves had been cut off an old slip.  I wish I had pictures of those outfits. I didn't have a camera in college, so I only have about three photos from that era. 

I am coping with the diet by drinking glass after glass of sugar-free lemonade. I'm probably not supposed to do that because this diet is supposed "recalibrate my metabolism", but right now I miss bread so much that I can't even focus on doing any thing I'm supposed to do.  This morning I promised myself that if the scale didn't confirm there had ( Read more... )

Instead of doing the very, very important work * that I have to finish today, I read the first 50 pages of Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, book I was so sure I wanted to read that I purchased it used not once, but twice. I can't handle movie violence, so I never go to see Tarantino films.  I get sick to my stomach when violence happens on the screen.

Recently in an discussion, I yelled at someone, "I hate devil's advocate. If you are not arguing what you think, YOU SUCK!" This, of course, is a purely emotional response, and the d.a. actually was making a valid point.  But when people say, "I'm just playing devil's advocate,"  I always hear, "I'm just saying shit because it amuses me to piss you
