Day 4 - Favorite Character
Wilfred Mott is my all-time favorite Who character. And why not?
He is brave. He stayed in London during the Christmas evacuation.
He is gentle and kind. He comforts Donna when she’s trying to find direction in her life.
He is fascinated by the Universe. He has to take a moment on the Vinvocci spaceship just to look.
Other people take hundreds of years to find the Doctor. Wilf can do it in a couple of hours.
All of these would be great reasons to love Wilf, but I think that it’s his ability to make me feel that is the reason I love him so much. I think that his character is well-written and perfectly acted. I’m not sure how Bernard Cribbins, a man who looks perpetually sad, is able to convey so many emotions so brilliantly. When he’s happy, I’m happy. When he’s sad, I’m sad. When he’s anxious, I’m anxious.
And when he and David Tennant share screen time, it’s magical.
