My two year old is all of a sudden afraid to go to sleep. The past three nights have been a struggle for my husband and I. We're currently setting up our nursery, and I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but I'll give it a shot anyway. We're sidecarring our crib in the bedroom, so we aren't sure what bed to put up in the actual nursery. We have a bassinet and a pack n play. We're taking our 16-month-old to a wedding this weekend. She's never had to sit quietly for a certain amount of time before; actually, she's the kind of kid who prefers to run around and explore, but I don't think that'd be looked upon too kindly at the wedding. I'm having gall bladder surgery on Thursday and am a tad worried about my three month old. She'll be at the hospital and with her daddy, it's a laproscopic procedure, and we have frozen breastmilk. My little girl is 15 months old. She was teething a week or two ago but those symptoms have gone away. This week she has been so hard to deal with. She whines over and over again all day long. Any favorite books on gentle discipline? Bonus points if I can find it at my library or for cheap on half.com. So far I've had Connection Parenting recommended to me, but I can't find it at either of those places.

I'm feeling really despondent. I just went to the "break up party" of the parenting group run by the local council. All the babes are around the age mine is - the eldest is 6 months, the youngest is a few weeks younger than mine, say four months.
