I said goodbye to my first student today, Kyouka. She's a bright 14 year old who has kept me on my toes this past year because she is so damn smart. She absorbs everything like a sponge and constantly amazes me week after week with her language comprehension and speaking abilities. I have so much respect for her as a student. I HATTTTTTTTEEEE staying at home, so as long as I can help it, every night is a Saturday night. Although about 90% of the working population would disagree with me, I love Mondays. The Japanese phrase "chotto matte kudasai" ("just one moment, please" in english), comes in very handy in the classroom. If I need to make a sudden toilet break, retrieve something from the other classroom, blow my nose, pick a wedgie, or go outside to get a much needed breath of fresh air, all I need to say is "chotto matte kudasai" and off I go.
