So this happened
For about a month now I've been troubled by my back. It started as annoying back pain and has turned into full on can't-walk leg pain. For about 3 weeks each day was worse than the day before, but it seems to have levelled off now ( Read more... ) -
14 degrees
14 degrees centigrade is my cutoff point. It's where I change from winter clothes to summer clothes. I tend to layer, so I pretty much have one set of rules for how to dress from -5˚ to 14˚ and one set for how to dress from 14˚ to around 32˚. Which means that on days where the temperature ranges from like 10˚ to 18˚ I'm pretty much screwed. I'm ( Read more... ) -

A fresh new take on Whitby
Last weekend was an unusual Whitby for me. It made a nice sort of circle. This time I shared a cottage with 3 of the 5 people I stayed with at the very first Whitby*. But this time we all brought our children with us. Boxing up stuff
Yet again something wrong with the flat. This time it turns out the people who did the work on the flat before we bought it duped the council into certifying the work as being up to spec when it wasn't (in short it was supposed to be certified as material change of use, but was certified as a refurb). More roof trauma
The flat has two roofs. Both are leaking. We got a number of roofers to come out and take a look. Well… we asked a number, some of which never bothered to show up. In the end we went for one which was expensive, but insanely so. They gave us quotes for both roofs, the terrace roof and what they call a dormer roof. We decide they should do the ( Read more... ) -

I've recently experimented with variants on the bloody mary. I've got two promising results:
Mexican Bloody Mary- Vodka
- Tomato juice
- 1/4 tablespoon cumin
- dash of smoked paprika
- tobasco sauce

Another week of jobbed
Employer Who Must Not Be Named has decided to push back my redundancy a week. Well... decided is such a strong word. In fact all they did was realise I still have an open application for an internal position and the Deciding Manager is on holiday til after the Big Day. New flatmate
The wifemonster and I have settled enough into the new flat to determine that there is a bit more space than we actively need. We figured it would be nice to have a flatmate for a bit of company around the place.
