Quite a storm.  Ike combined with a cold front to produce wind gusts as high as 85mph.  I have never seen such an extensive area of damage here in my life.  We were told at most 5-7 days for power, but more like 3-4.  We are camping out at work, having fun, and sapping the internet.  LOL.  Anyway, this whole experience really has me thinking.  ( Read more... )

Today is a sad day.  Estelle Getty has passed away.  She lived a long life, but has had a battle the last few years with dementia.  The Golden Girls were always on at my Little Granny's house.  I loved watching them with my grandma, and this news makes me want to visit her.  Sophia, you will always be in my memories.

Nothing important to say today, but it has been a while since I updated my livejournal.  Things have been going quite well at work.  I realize now that I work better with feedback from my advisor.  I consider myself very lucky to have the advisor that I do, because he is extremely hands on and is constantly providing feedback.  I've heard stories ( Read more... )

It feels as if this project was meant to be mine.  After 12 years, the Columbus Zoo has secured the grants to bring back Polar Bears for this Polar Frontier Project.  This was not known until after I had been accepted and given the full grant proposal document.  Spiritually, for my work to be coupled with the Polar Bear exhibit is a dream come true ( Read more... )
