Hi, I started taking Calculus this year in HS. I have this assignment which I completed, but I'm not sure if my notations are right. My teacher is OCD about notation, and takes half a mark off each time I use y=f(x), dy/dx, d/dx, etc. wrong. Hey! I was wondering if anyone out there could check my work on this problem?

It's the integral of (dx/(x^2-6x-7)

I eventually ended up with:

1/8*ln|(x-7)/(x+1)| + C

Thanks for any help! I just learned about this technique today and my prof wants my homework in now since I'll be out of state the next week.

or

3^(x cubed) = 9 ^ x.

I'm in a course about Complex Variables and am having trouble understanding a section: entire and harmonic functions. I understand that an entire function is analytic on a finite domain D and that a harmonic function u(x,y) has continuous 1st and 2nd order derivatives. How would I solve:

log2 16

2 would be the base and 16 would be the end result?
so it would be log2=16?
and then from there?
Orrr....?

And for
2logx - log(x+1) = log4 - log3
The answer is 2.
How is the answer two?
