Yes, I have been horribly bad about updating my journal.  I have just been so swamped at work that getting 5 minutes to update is a true luxury.

So, here are the bullet points of what has been happening of late:

• My health is excellent.  I just had a checkup last week and I am 100% A-Okay.  I am tested once a month now and by October will go to a test ( Read more... )

The family I placed her with emailed me this morning.  Apparently Dede has exhibited some very aggressive behavior towards their 8 year old son and they want me to come pick her up immediately.  She is not happy about the living situation and it is not working out.

It's Friday afternoon - about 2:30 PM  - and around 4 PM I will be leaving work for a 3 day weekend.  Yippee!

The whole Dede being gone thing is not getting 'better' but it isn't getting worse.  What I mean is that yes, I miss her so much that my heart aches and I feel this overwhelming sense of loss.  The house is quiet, curling up on the couch isn't the same without her and the absence of a life presence makes my place seem more 'empty' then before.  I  ( Read more... )

It's Day 2 (or three if you want to count all of Sunday) and I haven't heard anything about Dede.  The family has not emailed me or called with an update or question.  I assume that everything is okay with them all.  If I haven't heard from them by Friday I'll send a quick note to ask.  Is that bad?  I would think that if I didn't it would seem ( Read more... )

I will try to post more as I am able - mostly because it was almost impossible for me to let her go.  But I am happy to report that her new home is wonderful, that her new family loves her already and that allowing my little girl to be raised by someone other than me was the hardest, most humane thing I could have ever done for her.

It's a really nice day (should be close to 90 inland and low 80's along the coast) so I dusted off the convertible and drove it to work.  My total commute is about 80 miles so I don't take the old car that much.   Not that she isn't trustworthy, it's just that if anything happens mechanically I would like to be closer to home.   It does make me ( Read more... )
