For future appers
The timing's off, since there's already a new bunch being voted on at CFUD, but for the early birds:
What I had done when I was coming up with my apps was look at the older ones and see what was a winning combination. I remember how tedious it was, so I've decided to make this to save others who have the same idea the trouble. It doesn't beat a beta (trust me on this), but it does gives you some idea.
This post will be updated periodically as new batches are put up at campfuckudie. [Edit: 12/9/05] Voting posts are now at campfuckuvote but this will still be updated. Edit [October 2007]: Not anymore~ orz
First and foremost, of course, there's the information on CFUD's user info, and here's the applications/voting FAQ. It's recommended you read both. Really. The FAQ is also linked on the CFUD user info page, but in case you're feeling lazy ...
Whenever the applications are open, they follow the time here.
There's also some material you can work with from the CFUD Wiki and at Uncyclopedia, as well as plenty of help and advice. There is also something regarding spoilers which is a MUST READ.
Application Requests
Usually, begging starts whenever the moderators give notice about the next time the applications are open. However, begging posts at the OOC comm are not uncommon either. Always a good idea to keep an eye out for them if you're having trouble deciding. Requests for counsellor apps tend to be a bit scattered, as they're rarely open, but they happen!

Formatting/Sending
This is repeated ad nauseam, but be nice and add the normal LJ/HTML tags to your apps and save the mods the trouble. One suggestion is that you type up the whole thing on your regular LJ (if you have one, anyway) and then copy n' paste when it comes to sending.
By the way, it's a good idea to send in your app as a .txt file attachment, without Word Wrap.
Oh, and about the sparkles ... You'll have to upload them somewhere and then use them, though.
What's in a username?
... with credit to the Tetra player for the title and for starting it. Basically, there is usually some interest in how people come up with the usernames for their characters. Some are easy to get, others take a while to decipher. So, without further ado, on the Mysteries of the Username!

If you have anything you think should be added or how the format could be better, or something of the sort, please comment and tell me. And as I distinctly lack wit myself, if anyone has witty names to give the groups of batches, do tell! (Or I can just get rid of them, whatever's your fancy.)
