Today seems to be the day for house problems.  I had Charlie go up in the attic to see why the fan wasn't running and he essentially said it was dead.  Jeb resurected it a while back, but I think this time the new one will get installed.  That was inconvenient.  Problem #2 is critical ( Read more... )

My niece's wedding is in a month and I don't know what to wear!   It's in Pittsburgh, at an estate-turned-conference center.   Ceremony at 5:30 in the evening with cocktail hour immediately following "on the deck" and the reception (dancing) in the "glass atrium". I just heard an update of the traffic situation.  The Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (west bound) has been closed since 6:30 this morning due to a water-main break.  Apparently,  the pumps can't keep up.  Coming at the beginning of a holiday weekend, this is really bad news.  Two to five mile back-ups are normal on a regular weekend in the summer.   ( Read more... )

Yesterday's Golden Rose Tourney was a really pleasant day (except for the heat!).   Donal had been asked by Duchess Melisande to be her  Herald, so we were set up with her team for the day.  I enjoyed spending time with everyone there.  It's a nice change of pace to be with such a group of friends.  So many times we find that we've spent the whole ( Read more... )
