Moving is stressfull enough. When you're trying to coordinate moves from Iowa to Vermont - an 18+ hour trip, it can be moreso. When the truck came and got my furniture, I thought I was done - now I clean up, drive east, and then magically my stuff arrives at my new house after I spent a couple days at M&Ds. I got the job. The school is too small to have tenure, but it is essentially a tenure track position - it is intended to be permanent. I also got my official acceptance to the master's program I'd applied for - and have decided to pursue that on a part time basis ( Read more... )

So my contract expires in May, which means I'm looking for a job. My current job has been transitioning from teaching Ecology to teaching Math, but I am still a very non-traditional mathematician since my PhD is in Theoretical Ecology. So the official word has come down. My job does not exist next year. I already knew I was looking for a job. But I sort of had in the back of the mind that they might be able to extend my current contract by a year if it came down to it. But as of this moment, the word is my job is being eliminated.
