I filed my taxes last week!  Yay!  I'm really, really looking forward to this year's tax refund.  It's supposedly going to be substantial, so I'm going to use it to pay off my credit card.  I've been trying to do that for about a year-and-a-half, and I think this time it's finally going to happen.  I'm so excited!

I was driving home from campus yesterday (February 14th), and was listening to a number of different radio stations as usual.  It's a 15 minute drive, and it was during rush hour so it was a bit longer than usual.  While flipping through the stations I think that I heard about 30 different songs...maybe more.  I'm not sure.  I'd say that a good 80 ( Read more... )

Michigan primaries today.  I drove next to "The McCain Train" on the way to campus.  It was headed on I-96 to Detroit and consisted of (1) an SUV (looked like a tricked-out jeep) with Satellite capabilities (2) a big blue bus  and (3) a big red bus.  And I mean greyhound-sized buses.  How many people do you really need to ride around with anyway?  ( Read more... )

I found out this morning, during my first class of the semester (Plant Breeding and Biotechnology) that the Earth Liberation Front set fire to the Plant & Soil Science building here at MSU in 2000.  The ELF was busy that year because they also planted bombs at the Forestry building greenhouses at MTU.  I remember being jealous that
