So I was just reading in Mark about John the Baptist's death.  It's a very strange story.  But it reminded me of Bible Study last year "BeHeaded for Christ".  John the Baptist was pointing toward Jesus.  So for the heck of it, I looked up the Greek word for "beheaded".  I needed to post it because, as a scientist, I was able to decipher the meaning ( Read more... )

I'm really, really glad God is on my side.  I just had my life stolen (aka my backpack with all my stuff in it) right out of my office and I feel very, very sad.  I'm actually not too upset about them getting all my credit cards, my cell phone, my drivers' license (which are all cancel-able and replaceable)...but I'll admit I'm a little nervous ( Read more... )

It is a strange thing to me to go from reading journal articles to magazine articles.  Journalists have such a different way of writing compared to scientists.  Scientists appear to try to be objective (and often fail).  Journalists (perhaps by sheer necessity) are often the opposite of objective.  I'm not sure how to respond to the latest issue of ( Read more... )

We actually got the ammonia in.  While that should be good news, it really isn't because of the mess of the whole situation.  Instead of getting two small ammonia cylinders (one for each lab) we now have one GIGANTIC ammonia cylinder.  With a cart I can move the small ones.  They aren't too heavy.  This one requires two people in order to move it ( Read more... )
