It had been yet another morning hanging over the toilet bowl, and breakfast had not done anything to help matters. Ray had volunteered himself to do the dishes but Tala and Kai had literally dragged him back to the bedroom before he could catch his breath, only for Ray to escape again a few hours later.
Now he sat in the kitchen, body trembling as his mind buzzed with an almost dizziness, spots playing across his vision. He was getting worse, and if he continued to do so Bryan just might end up having to catch him as he collapsed. Not that those other two would care. Ray scowled. No, Tala would probably take advantage of the situation while Kai looked on and laughed before-
What was that?
Ray frowned, raising his head and focussing, ear to the wind. Yes, there it was again, barely audible. Pushing himself to his feet he followed the sound to the side door, opening it and stepping into the garage.
“Why hello.” Ray stepped toward the garage doorway, smiling down. “Did you get trapped in here yesterday, did you? Well we can’t have that, now can we?”
Hitting the button the shed door rose, the cat tearing outside with her two kittens following her, Ray knowing that she was probably one of the strays he had seen around. He watched as she disappeared around the corner and out of sight before he turned around-
“Eh… hi.”
It didn’t move, content with simply sitting and looking up at him, wide eyes unblinking as its small tail flicked. Ray moved closer and knelt, the kitten not moving as it watched him, as if it were waiting. Reaching out hesitantly Ray stroked its fur, receiving a broken unpractised purr in reply, bringing a smile to his lips.
“Decided to stay, did you? Not sure if that’s a good thing or not, my friend. Once you come into this house it can be really hard to get out again.” The gold and grey tabby purred, rubbing against him. “Are you hungry? How about we find you something to eat.”
The kitten allowed him to pick it up, Ray holding it against him and quickly checking its sex before he stepped into the flat. Making his way to the kitchen he found Tala looking around, turning toward him as he heard Ray enter.
“Ah, there you are. I was just thinking you had gone… is that what I think it is?”
“If you think it’s a kitten, yes.” Ray made his way passed him, finding a low bowl and pouring some milk into it before setting it on the floor. Putting the kitten down, he and Tala watched as it made its way toward the bowl, sniffing the milk before tasting it. Satisfied, it began to lap contently.
“Intelligent little thing.” Tala moved closer, kneeling beside Ray. “Where’d you find it?”
“I found him in the garage. His mother and his two siblings left as soon as I opened the door but he hung back. It’s almost like he’s chosen me.”
“He? You’re sure that’s what it is?”
“Yeah. I checked just before in case someone asked.”
“Oh.” Tala’s blue eyes lifted at the sound of the light footstep, eyes falling upon the other as he entered. “Kai.”
Kai’s crimson gazed moved over them before it found the animal, eyes narrowing. “And what is that doing here?”
“Ray found it.” Tala smiled, eyes wide and innocent as he battered his eyelashes. “Can he keep it? Pweeeeease.”
“Knock it off.” Kai shook his head and rolled his eyes. “Fine, I have no objections. But I doubt Bryan is going to be thrilled about this.”
“If he causes any trouble, I’ll deal with him.” Tala smirked, gaze sweeping toward Ray. “I think it’s a good idea too. So Ray, got a name for him yet?”
Ray thought for a moment, then smiled. “I think I’ll call him Chung Hu. It means ‘Intelligent Tiger’.”
“Fitting. Oh, it would appear little Chung Hu is finished.” Tala smiled, reaching out to pat the kitten who backed away quickly, moving closer to Ray. “Hey, I’m not going to hurt you.”
Ray frowned down at the tabby as Kai came forward, the kitten’s fur standing on end as it planted itself, ready for the fight. “I uh… don’t think he likes you, guys. Probably cause this is a new environment and all. He’ll get used to it.”
Tala frowned. “Odd. So how come he took to you so fast?”
“Ray’s neko-jin,” Kai reminded the youngest of the Russians. “Chung Hu can probably sensed the feline within Ray and therefore feels at ease with him. Like Ray said, once he gets used to the place he’ll get used to us, but until then we’ll just have to take it slow, so no scaring the fluffball.”
“So much for all my prank ideas, but you’re right, it’s the neko-jin thing.” Tala stood, stretching and smiling. “Oh Ray… it’s your turn on top…”
Ray looked up, frowning. “Come on guys, we’ve been at it all morning. Besides, I need to keep an eye on Chung Hu.”
“Just put him in the laundry for now with some food.” Tala raised an eyebrow. “And you can never get sick of sex. Ever.”
Ray sighed, shooting an apologetic look toward Chung Hu before picking the kitten up. No matter what he said or did, Tala and Kai always had the answer. There was just no way of escaping, and no place to go if he did…
************
Ray groaned, leaning back against the wall of the shower, closing his eyes as the water fell over him. This was his sanctuary, his time alone… and it had just been violated. He let out a shuddering breath, feeling the movements of the other as he ran his hands through the two-toned hair, his loins burning as he felt it approaching.
“Kai…” Ray bit his lip, wishing he had something to hold onto as his knees threatened to buckle, his head falling back against the wall of the shower as he climaxed, groaning harshly. Once he had enjoyed this. Once, but not now.
Even in the shower he felt dirty.
There had to be some way out of this, some sort of escape. Even as Kai pushed himself up and caught Ray’s lips with his own Ray was not there, shutting his mind off and acting by reflex. There were moments he considered ending it all, taking up his razor and slitting his wrists to watch his blood pool on the white tiles of the floor. On other occasions he took his razor and slit their throats, watching the startled looks on their faces that would be set for eternity, telling them that it was no ones fault but their own. Then logic took over.
Of a night Ray would lay awake as they slept, longing to crawl from their bed and down the hall to Bryan’s, curling up against him. For some reason Ray only felt safe when Bryan was near, felt normal and revitalised. Felt… happy.
Ray heard Kai growl as he pulled Ray closer, their bodies rubbing against each other. Ray hated how despite being revolted by it all his body acted on its own, responding to their fondlings despite his hatred. He swore that his body had its own mind as he felt Kai’s erection brush against his own.
Yet another thing Ray hated about himself was the fact he was so light, Kai easily lifting him and guiding Ray’s legs around his hips before he entered him. Ray looped his arms around Kai’s neck as the other bore up into him, an idea playing through Ray’s mind before he gripped Kai’s shoulders, digging his nails into the flesh and knowing he broke the skin. Kai didn’t seem to notice, but Ray didn’t care. Kai would feel it later.
Ray sighed. Hadn’t he dropped enough hints that he couldn’t keep doing this forever? Normally when he had his shower Kai and Tala would continue their games, but apparently Tala had been tired so Kai had decided to let him sleep. Kai let Tala sleep. Yet no one ever let Ray sleep, ever. No one ever asked him, or let him be.
Even that morning Ray had awakened to find himself lying on his side, Tala driving himself up into him as Kai worked him from the front. No, even in sleep they couldn’t leave Ray alone, insisting on giving him ‘pleasant awakenings’ that usually left Ray running for the bathroom before he threw up all over them.
There was no way they would ever let him go. If he ever told them that he was leaving he was sure that they would bar his path, forcing him backward before giving him a hundred reasons why he should stay, those very reasons they would use the same ones that were what was making him leave. There was no way that he could just walk out on them.
Ray let out a strangled sob, knowing Kai probably thought it had something to do with the way Kai was ravaging him. Tears were lost in the running water, dizziness playing at his mind as he felt his body erupt, though all the emotions that came with it seemed unnatural, distant, like he was not part of the moment but rather elsewhere, observing it.
He was but a rag doll, a puppet of which they pulled the strings and he would respond. A thing they could toss around and use to their own desires, fulfilling their own needs with no consolation to his own.
They were killing him.
************
“Why hello you two.” Tala’s eyes sparkled as he looked up, gaze falling onto Kai as he raised a sculpted eyebrow. “Just decided to let me sleep, hm? To make me missed out on all the fun I’m sure you both had.”
Kai smiled at him, eyes sparkling. “We’ll make up for it tonight.”
“You had better.”
“Is that a threat?”
“It might be.”
Ray turned away from their battle of wills, knowing how it would end. Hopefully the fact they were in the kitchen would stop them from trying anything, but then it wouldn’t be the first time they had done it on the kitchen table.
He blinked as he spotted the laundry door ajar, and quickening his pace he pushed it open, turning on the light and gazing around, noting that the food bowl was empty. “Chung Hu? Are you in here?”
It soon became clear that the kitten was not, and moving back to the kitchen he cleared his throat, Kai and Tala breaking their kiss to look at him. “Have you two seen Chung Hu?”
“The kitten?” Tala frowned, casting his gaze around. “No.”
“I thought you put him in the laundry,” Kai said as he stepped back from Tala and toward the lounge.
“I did, but the door mustn’t have closed properly again.”
Tala blinked. “We really need to see about getting that door fixed you know.”
They searched for a good ten minutes before returning to the kitchen, Ray beginning to feel distressed. What if Chung Hu had somehow gotten out? What if he had taken off across the road and gotten hit by a car? Or what he if were somewhere in the house, trapped and crying though no one could hear him, meaning he might starve to death? Or what if he was hurt-
“Don’t get worked up, Ray.” Kai’s crimson gaze fell on him for a moment before he turned and made the younger a drink. Handing it too him, he caressed Ray’s face, noting the weariness and dismissing it as worry for the tabby. “I doubt he got far.”
“We just have to keep looking,” Tala assured him, joining them. “After all, we’ve only checked the obvious places. Still plenty of places to look yet.”
“Exactly.” Kai turned to face Ray again. “As soon as you finish that, we’ll… what the-”
Ray frowned, following Kai’s gaze and biting back his laugh as Tala gawked. Bryan didn’t pay any mind to his flatmates as he moved to the fridge to find something to eat, Chung Hu balanced perfectly on his shoulders purring with contentment. Finding what he was looking for Bryan closed the fridge and regarded his peers, eyes slowly moving toward Ray before he gestured to the kitten.
“Lost something?”
This time Ray couldn’t help but laugh as he stepped forward, reaching up to scratch Chung Hu’s chin. “How long has he been with you?”
“Better part of the afternoon.” Bryan glanced back at the cat. “Walked into my room like he owned the place and decided that my lap was the place to be. After a while he decided he wasn’t content with that and moved on up in the world. Gotta admit the kitten’s got good balance.”
“The fact you have broad shoulders would help.” Chung Hu stood, gazing down at Ray and mewing softly, Ray reaching up to pluck him from his perch before cradling him against his chest. “You certainly are adventurous, aren’t you?”
Bryan moved away, leaning back against the counter and taking another bite out of the chocolate bar before he gestured to the kitten. “Gotta name?”
Ray nodded. “Chung Hu.”
“Intelligent Tiger, hm? I’ll agree with that.”
Tala shot him a hard look. “Since when do you speak Chinese?”
“Can’t.” Bryan smirked. “However, I’ve memorised a couple of name books. Though I gotta admit Chinese is the next language on my list. Got English and Japanese almost mastered, and well on the way with French… stop looking at me like that, Tal.”
Kai cast his gaze around the room before checking his watch. “How about we have dinner? It’s getting late.”
Ray looked away from where he was watching the glaring showdown between the Demolition Boys teammates. “Sounds good to me.”
************
“Look guys, we’ve been at it all day. I’m just too tired.”
“Oh come on, Ray.” Tala’s eyes were wide with innocence, almost pleading. “I missed out earlier. Don’t you want to make up for it?”
“I’m sorry, Tala. I guess I… I guess I just need to sleep today off.” Ray took a step backward toward the door, away from them. “Maybe tomorrow, okay?”
“But I can’t wait for tomorrow,” Tala followed him, Kai sitting back and smirking. “I want you, Ray. I need you so bad. I love you.”
“I can’t…” Ray flinched as he felt Tala’s touch. “I’m tired…”
“You can sleep later,” Tala almost purred, reaching out to stroke the front of Ray’s pants. “I know you want me. I can feel it.”
“Tala, please, don’t.” Ray felt his back hit the solid that was the door. “Not tonight.”
“And why not?” Tala smirked. “What? Don’t you love me anymore? I remember how it used to be you begging me. Why this sudden decision to play hard to get?”
Ray swallowed hard. “Maybe I don’t love you anymore.”
Something flashed in Tala’s eyes, and over Tala’s shoulder Ray spotted Kai straighten sharply. “I see. Well we’ll just have to make you see that you’ve only forgotten, yes?”
“Agreed.” Kai stood, slowly closing the distance, his presence almost overpowering. “You didn’t really mean that, did you Ray? Cause if it’s true, we’re just going to have to prove to you that you do love us. You can’t live without us.”
Ray felt small, trembling slightly, made worse as the nausea washed over him. Had he not been so ill he would have stood tall, telling them where to go, but he wasn’t well. He felt weak, almost like he was going to fade away, made worse by their suffocating closeness. “Please…”
“Please what?” Tala’s smirk widened, Ray swearing that the Russian could go from an angel to a demon in 0.3 microseconds. “Say it, Ray. Say you want us.”
“I... I want…”
“Yes? You want what?”
“I want…” Ray fumbled for the handle, finding it. “I want… to get out of here.”
Tugging at the door he threw it open, pushing them aside before dashing into the corridor and toward his room. He heard Tala call out after him before he heard Kai’s voice.
“Let him go, Tal. He’ll be back. You wait.”
Ray threw open the door to his own bedroom and hurried inside, closing it behind him before he stumbled toward the bed, collapsing onto it sobbing. He wasn’t sure how long he stayed there, crying until the tears wouldn’t come anymore, but he knew that they wouldn’t come after him.
He stiffened as the door opened slowly, forcing himself to look up and finding Bryan standing there, Chung Hu cradled against his chest, concern written all over his face and body language. Ray looked away, hearing the door close again before light steps moved toward the bed.
Bryan sat on the edge, setting Chung Hu down and watching as the kitten struggled over the softness of the doona toward his master. The little gold and grey fuzzball made it to Ray’s face, rubbing up against him and bringing a smile to Ray’s lips as he raised a trembling hand to stroke the kitten.
Pushing himself up into a sitting position Ray scooped up the kitten and set him in his lap, the cat almost straight away curling itself up, purring soothingly and making Ray feel a lot better. Stroking the soft fur Ray hesitantly raised his eyes to find Bryan gazing down at the kitten, a small genuine smile on his lips.
Shifting carefully so not to disturb Chung Hu, Ray slid closer to Bryan, who looked up, eyes reading Ray’s expression. Bryan slid an arm around Ray’s shoulders as the younger curled up against him, still trembling but seeming to relax slightly.
For some reason he always felt safer in Bryan’s arms.
