“I gotta admit this is pretty impressive.”

Ray hung over Lee’s shoulder, reading the paper set out in front of him. “It’s almost like they’re going back to the old way of running things.”

“Yeah.” Lee smirked. “It’s amazing what one little outburst can do. Bryan really put them in their place.”

“Well, you’ve got to admit he made some good points.” Ray stretched, stifling a yawn.

“Tired, Ray?”

“A little.”

“Well, we did get back late last night.” Lee looked up at him, frowning. “Just what were you and Bryan up to, anyway? You were very quiet.”

“How do you know if we were quiet or not, considering all the noise you and Spencer were making.”

Lee raised an eyebrow, looking back down. “Okay, you have a point there. So what were you doing?”

“None of your business.”

“Okay, now I really want to know.” Lee smirked. “When are you two gonna realise that you like each other?”

“We do not.” Ray sighed, shaking his head. “If you must know, Bryan and I weren’t in his room for long. We ended up getting sick of listening to you two and headed downstairs where Bryan taught me how to play pool properly.”

That wasn’t a lie, Bryan had. Ray fought the smile as he remembered how Bryan had shown him how to use the cue properly, arms wrapped around Ray from behind as he taught him how to line up the shot. Ray had been forced to fight hard to keep his attention on the game rather than on his boyfriend.

Yes, he and Bryan had officially started calling themselves a couple, though they were making a game of keeping Lee and Spencer, not to mention everyone else, on their toes by pretending that they weren’t a couple. It was fun.

“Whatever.” Lee scanned the paper in front of him and tapped a spot. “I see that the banned move list has shortened, though Stroblitz is still on there.”

Ray leant over his shoulder again, smiling. “I also see that they’ve removed the rule that the blade must remain in contact with the dish at all times.”

Lee grinned, fangs twinkled. “Oh goody…”

“Has anyone told you that you look evil when you do that?” Mariah stepped into the study and dropped the letters onto the desk. “Mails arrived. Looks like the power bill is due again.”

“What!?” Lee sorted through them, pulling out said bill and tearing it open, reading. “But I just paid this!”

“No, you just paid the gas.” Mariah frowned. “So what made you so happy about the BBAs new rules?”

Lee handed her the paper. “Take a look for yourself.”

Mariah scanned the piece of paper, grinning. “They unbanned ‘Scratch Attack’? And by removing this rule about not leaving the dish it means the Crazy Monkey and Bear Axe can be used again, doesn’t it?”

“It does.” Lee glanced up. “Not to mention Tiger Claw.”

“You have to think of the other teams too,” Ray said. “The Demolition Boys have always been fond of their dive bombs, and both Max and Tyson like using air moves to turn the contest around.”

“True. Let’s not forget the Majestics and the All Starz.”

“I see here they’re allowing all the specialty moves back in.” Mariah smiled. “Phantom Hurricane and all the moves like that will be back again.”

“You know, I’m kinda looking forward to the Championship this time around.” Ray grinned, leaning against the desk. “It’ll be all out again, no restraint. The crowd is going to love it.”

“Agreed.”

“One other thing.” Mariah pointed over her shoulder. “There was a newsflash on before to say that the charges on Kai and Tala have gone up a notch. Apparently Bryan is putting Tala up for rape as well, and has witnesses or something. Kai’s now up for assisting and conspiring a few accounts of rape as well.”

Ray slapped a hand to his forehead. “Why didn’t I think of that? Kai was doing just that!”

Lee frowned. “You mean you didn’t lay those charges?”

“No, but I’m certainly going to go down to the station to back them up.” Ray shook his head, smiling. “Bryan and I were talking last night, and I commented on how Kai’s sentence, when he’s caught, is going to be lenient. Bryan told me that he’d figure out a way around it, and he’s done just that.”

Mariah frowned. “How did Kai conspire and assist in the rapes?”

“Sometimes when Tala was raping me, Kai would be watching. On some occasions he’d join in.” Ray shook his head. “And on a couple of occasions, it was his idea. In some ways Kai is just as bad as Tala, only he was smarter. While we can’t get him for rape itself, this is another way of nailing him.”

“I see sense in that.”

“Me too.” Mariah looked down. “Lee? Michael called before. He wants to know if you want to go out tonight.”

Lee groaned, forehead hitting the desktop with a thud, Ray chuckling as he reached out to pat him on the back.

************

Ray sighed. “Do you think they’re ever catch them?”

“Who knows.” Bryan smoothed Ray’s hair, kissing him on the forehead, rolling his eyes as Chung Hu let out a soft meow. “Who asked you?”

Ray chuckled, reaching out to pat the cat. “He’s certainly growing fast.”

“Downside is he has energy to burn. Anything left lying around is destined to become the next temporary cat toy.” Bryan smiled faintly as Ray snuggled closer to him. “Of course, he’s only doing it for attention.”

“Which he gets enough of as it is.” Ray scratched the cat under the chin, smile widening as he purred. “Don’t you annoy your dad too much, or he won’t let you sleep on the end of his bed no more.”

“What, so that’s what I am, is it?” Bryan raised an eyebrow. “Take it you’re the mummy.”

Ray smiled, looking up. “You’d have to ask him that.”

Bryan shrugged, reaching out and scooping Chung Hu up in one hand, bringing him closer so that they were almost nose to nose. “So what do you say, Chuny? Ray your mummy?”

Ray laughed. “Look it how he just dangles like that and not care. Do you do that a lot?”

“Sometimes.” Bryan set Chung Hu down again, pulling Ray closer. “Personally, I prefer this kitten.”

“Well don’t expect this kitten to dangle like that one.”

“I’m not expecting this kitten to dangle.”

“Good.” Ray smirked. “Cause I’m not letting it happen. If you intend it, though, I could always leave…”

Bryan looked down at Chung Hu. “Mummy’s a bitch.”

Ray smacked him over the back of the head, chuckling as he grinned before leaning forward and kissing Bryan. “Going to let me sleep on the end of your bed too?”

“Depends which end you’re talking.” Bryan smirked. “But you’d get the advantage of the fact I’ll let you under the covers.”

“Won’t Chung Hu get jealous? Me getting all this attention?”

“He doesn’t seem to mind at the moment.”

A soft mew interrupted them, Ray laughing. “You were saying?”

“Damned cat.” Bryan looked down at the gold and grey tabby. “Do you mind?”

“Not at all.” Ray shifted in Bryan’s lap, straddling him and wrapping his arms around his neck. “Maybe you should start ignoring him instead of answering to his every beck and call.”

“I do not.” Bryan glanced to the side as Chung Hu let out another meow, Ray catching the side of his face and returning his attention forward, one eyebrow raised questioningly and causing Bryan to sigh in defeat. “Okay, so maybe I do.”

Ray nodded. “You have no idea how to raise children.”

“And you do?” Bryan nodded to the side. “Had Chuny been at your place, do you think it would have been any different?”

“Maybe.” Ray trailed his finger over a faint scar of Bryan’s forehead, shivering as Bryan’s own fingers slid up beneath Ray’s shirt to gently draw circles on Ray’s back. Ray sighed, resting his forehead against Bryan’s, closing his eyes. “Things are a lot different, aren’t they?”

“If you mean compared to before?” Bryan traced the contours of Ray’s face, smiling faintly. “It’s good not to have to watch my back all the time.”

“Yeah. It’s good not to be sick all the time.”

“Good not to be bonking all the time?”

“It is, actually. Not that I mean anything by that.”

“I knew what you meant, Ray. Just as you knew what I asked.” Bryan opened his eyes slightly. “Lee asking any questions?”

“Same amount as normal. Spencer?”

“The usual.”

“Is it just me, or are they sleeping together more?”

“They are.”

Ray pulled back slightly. “And that was a date tonight, wasn’t it? Their first public one?”

“Mm.” Bryan smirked. “My idea. Told Spence that once we get to the Championship we’re not gonna be able to do anything without the media knowing about it, especially in terms of the captains. That’s why he and Lee are going public.”

Ray nodded. “Think we should too?”

“I say sometime during the finals.” Bryan grinned. “I like this idea that the media has going that I want to kill you and that you hate me with a passion. I say we wait until the media start pushing the idea during the Championship, then during a press conference we just start kissing full on for all to see.”

“You were always one to do things with a bang.” Ray pressed his lips to Bryan’s neck, then did so for a second time before meeting his eye. “I like the idea. Not only will it put us on front page and give us some coverage, but my fans really will want to kill you.”

“Meanwhile, my fans will be all the ones wolf whistling and calling support.”

“Not to mention probably screaming for us to start getting down and dirty.”

“Having seen my official fan site, I’d have to agree.”

“Hey, I like your fan site. At least it’s not all cutesie like mine.”

“You want cutesie, check out Oliver’s.”

“I may have too.” Ray closed his eyes and smiled as he tilted his head back, giving Bryan better access to his neck, shuddering with pleasure. “Mm, I like this.”

Bryan simply smiled faintly, nibbling on the soft flesh and hearing Ray gasp softly, feeling Ray’s fingers playing through his hair, encouraging him not to stop. Bryan eventually grew tired of this game and trailed the kisses over Ray’s jaw to his lips, kissing him hard. Ray moaned softly, kissing him back.

Ray slid further up into Bryan’s lap, Bryan’s fingers trailing down his spine in gently strokes, causing Ray to gasp against his mouth. Ray’s own hands threaded up behind Bryan’s neck, massaging the area as the kisses became long and drawn out, the kind they had only experienced with each other.

“Well I’ll be damned.”

Ray groaned, breaking the kiss to look over his shoulder. “What do you want?”

“Piss off, Ian.” Bryan glared at him.

“Ever heard of a doorbell?” Ray continued.

Ian smirked, shrugging before heading for the kitchen. “Never used it before, so I don’t see why I need to start now. Besides, how was I to know you two were trying to retrieve each others dinner?”

“What do you want, shrimp?” Bryan asked as Ray rested his head against Bryan’s shoulder.

“Just figured I’d come tell you about the ruckus our teammate is causing out there. Pretty much got the whole city looking to see what’s going on.” Ian smirked. “Not to mention Parker came across them.”

“This should be interesting.” Ray’s golden eyes sparkled evilly. “How many did it take to hold him back?”

“Just Steve, but Parker wised up pretty quick. Not even he is dumb enough to take on Spencer single handedly.” Ian appeared holding a glass and leant against the wall. “Think the biggest shock everyone got was when Lee told them how long they’d been dating.”

Bryan pulled a face. “What exactly were they doing?”

“Oh, nothing.” Ian waved it off, smirking. “Just sucking face, kinda like you were just now. Not to mention Lee dumped himself into Spence’s lap just to piss off Parker.”

“Why not just rub some lemon into the paper cut.” Bryan rolled his eyes toward Ray. “Your friend is evil.”

Ray chuckled. “I know.”

Ian sipped his drink, gesturing to the two. “So how longs this been going on?”

“A week,’ Ray told him. “And no, we haven’t slept together, so don’t bother asking.”

Ian raised an eyebrow. “How did you know I was gonna ask?”

“It was obvious.”

“So now you’ve spread the big news.” Bryan eyes narrowed. “Shoo.”

“Why?” Ian smirked. “So you can go back to making out?”

“He said ‘shoo’, Ian.” Ray made a motion with his hand, emphasising his point. “So do just that, unless of course you want me to get up and make you.”

Ian blinked. “I thought you were calm and passive-”

“SHOO!”

Ian winced at the command from the two, gulping down the last of his drink and setting his glass in the sink before hightailing it for the door. They listened for the click of the lock before they both let out the breathes they hadn’t realised they’d been holding.

Ray sighed. “You’re right. He’s annoying.”

“Told you.” Bryan closed his eyes, shaking his head. “Trust him to ruin the moment.”

“But you must admit it was good to hear just what Lee and Spencer are up too.”

“Sounds to me like they’re going to be stuck out there for some time.”

“Yeah.” Ray leant forward to kiss him again when his arm got jerked to the side. Frowning, Ray looked down. “Claws out of the sleeve, Chung Hu.”

“Told you, that cat craves attention.” Bryan looked down, reaching around to unhook the claws from Ray’s top. “Is this necessary, Chuny? Your parents need quality time too, you know.”

Ray chuckled. “I like the sound of that.”

Bryan looked at him, loving the way Ray smiled. “Really?”

“Mm-hm.” Ray leant forward, capturing Bryan’s lips with his. “Really.”

Bryan pulled him into another kiss that Ray returned, once again returning into the deep meaningful non-lusting kisses of before, Ray ignoring the cat as it tugged at his sleeve again, mewing for attention. Eventually Chung Hu gave up, curling into a ball and falling asleep.

************

“The look on Michael’s face was priceless.” Lee laughed softly, stretching before straightening his jacket. “Damn, that felt good.”

“Yeah.” Spencer moved to join him, sliding an arm around Lee’s shoulders. “Why didn’t we do it before?”

“Because we’re spineless cowards.”

“Don’t listen to everything Bryan says.” Spencer unlocked the door, letting them into the house. “You gonna stay tonight?”

“Why not.” Lee grinned, shrugging. “Nothing to stop me from saying yes now we’ve come out of the closest.”

“Don’t think your sister was too happy.”

“Mariah? She’ll get over it.” He chuckled. “Despite teasing me about Michael’s flirting, I think she was hoping I was straight. I think she thought that that was the reason that I kept turning Michael down.”

“It never occurred to her that he’s a loser?”

“It has, but I think she had a thing for him herself at one point.” Lee pulled a face. “I’d rather her date Kevin than Michael. At least I can trust Kevin to a point.”

“And control him to a point.”

“Mm.” Lee sighed, shaking his head. “Worst thing was that reporter showing up. You do realise we’re going to be all over the papers tomorrow.”

“We knew it would happen. We’re celebrities after all. Not to mention everyone’s interested in blading at the moment with the whole Kai and Tala thing.”

“Yeah. Wonder what they will think.”

“Don’t really give a shit.” Spencer frowned, tilting his head. “Quiet.”

“Yeah, noticed that.” Lee looked up at him. “Did Bryan say he was going out? Usually you can hear him tapping away on his keyboard.”

“Wasn’t Ray’s car still in the drive?”

“Come to think of it, it was.” Lee looked toward the lounge. “Fire’s still on.”

“Explains why it’s so cosy.” Spencer frowned. “I can hear Chung Hu purring.”

“I hear it too now you mention it.” Lee stepped from Spencer’s side and into the lounge, searching out the cat. He found him curled up asleep, Lee’s eyebrows raising ever so slowly as a smile spread across his lips. “Spence, come here.”

“Yeah?” Spencer stepped toward him, following his gaze. “And about time.”

Lee crossed his arms over his chest, smiling as he shook his head, taking in where Bryan was stretched out on the couch, Ray curled up against him, Chung Hu nestled into the space next to them, all asleep. “Should we wake them?”

“No. Let them sleep.” Spencer moved back toward the doorway, returning with a blanket that Lee helped to pull over their friends before Spencer dimmed the lights all the way down. Smiling, Spencer smoothed Lee’s hair. “Let’s go to bed.”
