Sorry to post two parts in one week, but it's pretty much done now apart from maybe one more drabble and a Becker/Connor ficlet that apparently is necessary... This is
stealingpennies fault...
Black and Blue, Too
Horse-riding wasn't the gentlest way to travel. Connor was clinging on grimly, but as they raced for the anomaly Becker heard a gasp of pain.
Reluctantly he slowed down.
"We need to get to the anomaly," Connor protested.
"Just how badly are you hurt?"
"I'm fine."
Becker lifted the ragged shirt Connor wore, and heard one of his men swear at the damage that revealed. There was certain to be worse that they couldn't see. Riding would be agony.
"I can ride," Connor insisted. "Please... get us home."
Grimly, trying to ignore the little whimpers Connor let escape, Becker obeyed.
