Leaving Catholic, pt 2

So I finally told J that I'm sure that the Catholic church isn't right for me. There are just too many things about it that I don't believe and too many things that bother me. The longer I'm a practicing Catholic the more sure I am that I'm really a Buddhist after all, just like I always thought I was. J has thoroughly converted and he believes that Catholicism is The Truth. I like the rituals but I really don't believe it's all true, to say nothing about how I feel about the politics involved with the church as an ( Read more... ) -

So I thought it was inevitable that I'd get a broken bone resulting from my roller derby involvement, and sure enough I did. Two nights ago I was skating in the house and slipped when I stepped from the carpet on to the kitchen tile floor. I fell and landed on my wrist, and I pretty instantly knew that I broke it. I spent a remarkable amount of time tonight re-reading my old blog entries from just before we left Texas and through the early years of moving back here, and it made me realize how much I wanted to have a regularly updated chronicle of my daily life again. The whole family went to an open skate session tonight at a local roller rink. We had a lot of fun - until Logan fell and hurt his wrist. He insisted he was fine but J took him up to the hospital when it was done. Turns out that Logan broke his arm ( Read more... ) -
