three thumbtacks (clear, one bent)
       released prematurely from the wall
two highlighters (blue, yellow)
       kept at close hand
       for enlightening lines from books

What You Missed

At 5:12 this morning
a rust bucket of a truck
drove down to the sad patch of beach
by Town Landing and the docks,
parked by the sea and watched.

At 5:15 the sun failed to rise above the clouds
but still managed to press orange patches
into the blue of the waves.

I’m Stealing the Towels.

Whatever. They can’t blame me, right? cause I paid my eighty bucks to stay here already, and I figure that price includes soap, shampoo, little plastic cups, mints, Gideon’s bible, and towel set.
