I've been in the habit of picking paperbacks off the library sci-fi shelves more or less at random, recently; I figure, it's free to try, and anything that's awful I can just put down and take back the next week. Just got back a little bit ago from the Empty Bowls dinner (really, a late lunch for me) which is currently hosted by Rodef Shalom. It's a nice event - people come in at a fairly constant rate, get one or two soups to try (donated by local restaurants, caterers, etc) and optionally exchange their ticket stubs for handmade ceramic bowls contributed ( Read more... )

Psychiatric nursing has been interesting so far. My general impression is that apart from implementing treatment plans (primarily medications), it largely consists of providing a therapeutic environment, encouraging socialization, and leading group activities.
