So the finishing touch for my dress is a hat, I love German hats and the Cheshire cat dress gives me the perfect excuse for a new purple hat.

Besides making a dress for my friend (the Mad Hatter) I made myself a Cheshire cat dress based off of a German Woodcut. The Cheshire cat is my favorite Disney character ever.

So the garb challenge has already happened, so this diary is sorta retroactive.  I took pictures while making the outfits but did not have time to write the entries while sewing.  I only had 3 weeks to do both outfits!  Anyway, here is the entry on making the hat for the Mad Hatter.

So I am very sad to say that the vampire dress is ruined.  I did get to wear it for a few hours at Wild Wild West Con in Tucson and enjoyed it very much.  In fact this is probably the first dress that I have made in the steampunk style that I actually like.  The only downside to wearing the dress at Old Tucson Studios is that the skirt got very ( Read more... )

A friend of mine came over to day and took some pictures of the whole outfit.  I do not have the new corset finished but I figured I should take advantage of friends will take pictures whenever I can!  Behind the cut are all my new pictures showing the whole outfit from start to finish.

As part of the vampire costume, I wanted an artificial blood box that would provide blood directly to a vessel in my neck.  Sort of a walking snack box for a lady vampire forced to walk among, yet not snack on, mortals.  In an earlier post I showed the faux stainglass heart painted on the box lid and the inside painted gold.  Here I worked on ( Read more... )

I love the bits and extras for costuming and I am in desperate need of a bag to carry my wallet and a few essentials.  So I used some of the left over fabric and trim to make a quick bag.  I also put together a simple necklace and started a new corset.
