Holy cow. Remember that rough flight to Europe we had last month? Missed connection, lost luggage, 24 hours in De Gaulle airport, taxi from Paris to Le Havre? Mr daw wrote Delta a sternly worded letter and they're covering our expenses.

My Goodreads giveaway wound up with 847 people signing up. Holy cow. Of course, what do I know? Maybe that's a small number. Anyway, I mailed the books this morning. Thanks to all who entered.

Reading: I'm reading Tana French's THE LIKENESS, about the Dublin murder squad. I read the first book in this series when we were away and really liked it. There's something so thrilling about discovering a new writer and finding they have lots of books for you to catch up on.

In honor of Halloween, Zharmae, my publisher, is posting a spooky story on its website every Monday through Saturday throughout October. We went to Porto in Portugal, which is along the Douro River. We took this little boat tour along the river, which is crossed by a series of bridges.

We docked in La Coruna, also in Spain, and took a tour that had us walking part of the ancient pilgrimage route to Compostela. The route was beautiful, running through woods and by fields. The scallop shell is the symbol for this walk. After 5 km, the bus picked us up and drove us to Compostela where we went to the cathedral.

We were supposed to go to Bordeaux, but the weather was too bad there, so instead we docked in Lorient in southern Brittany and took a trip to the village of Quimper, a pretty village.
