    Hi guys,

I'm in a world of financial woes and I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.

I'm getting married November 3.  I recently purchased $900 in wedding attire, a $150 starter Mary Kay skin care line, and $200 for contact lenses.

And, of course, I recently found out that I may be getting laid off from my job that I've been at for almost ( Read more... )

  • Buying a computer on my Credit card?

    college4christ wrote in debtproofliving Mar 30, 2007 04:49

Hi, I have a laptop computer that I want to buy, but it costs 2,000 to 3,000 and I wouldn't be able to pay it off in one month. It would most likely take a few months to pay. Any advice? Should I save up the money, or should I just go ahead and buy it?

In My Opinion -- The author misses the most obvious and best answer to this question. Tell FICO and the credit card companies to KISS IT. You don't need credit cards to live, regardless of the myth constantly perpetuated in our consumerist culture. If you do, you're living beyond your means. Perhaps she did need them to survive when her husband was ( Read more... )

  • Should I cash in the tiny IRA?

stefestella wrote in debtproofliving May 07, 2006 10:40

When I worked for the State of North Carolina as a middle school teacher for three years, I had a retirement account created with the state as all full-time permanent employees of the state do by default. When I left teaching, I rolled that retirement over into an IRA with Southern Farm Bureau. It was a tiny $3300 back in 2000 when I rolled it ( Read more... )
