Events:

The Speech and Debate Club end of year party. Over 35 people, all at our house. We spent a month making everything just right - getting the back bathroom usable, cleaning, sprucing, making the yard fabulous. Earlier today I told Karen it was Friday the 13th. "Oh, it's usually a lucky day for me," she cheerfully replied. Cool, I thought. Maybe we should buy a lottery ticket.

Instead, I got an email telling me that my poem Five Phases to Fat was selected for publication in Eclipse, a literary journal published by Glendale College.

Just in case you ever wondered, yes, clown fish have teeth. Either teeth or something similar, perhaps a series of razor blades or needles or stingers. Whatever, they can draw blood. Repeatedly.

Yesterday was the GCC intramural speech competition - the one I won last year. This time I was scheduled to be a judge. I find this utterly heartbreaking (I really do, how dreadful for them both, especially the bird) and hilariously funny at the same time. Maybe it's the way it's written, as though one of them ran a red light.
