Jacob and Esau
I'm struggling a bit today. I am trying to write a sermon on Genesis 25:19-24, which is the part of the story in which Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for some stew. Seems odd to sell something as important as a birthright for stew, and it seems mean for Jacob to do such a thing. Neither brother is using their brain particularly well.

Cats
Well, I believe my family is going to grow by two this week. NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Seriously, the New Kids on the Block, have gotten back together to make a new album and tour. I just can't even believe it. And what's funny, is that I watch them on TV and a couple of their videos online today, and it's like I'm 12 again.

Chocolate Crucifix?
Seriously, I received a bag of Easter candy from a member of the parish Sunday. I thanked her and the little girl graciously for the gift, as that is what it was. I didn't look into the bag, as it was just before worship and listened to her quickly tell me what had caramel and peanuts in it, just in case I were allergic. That was nice.

Lima Beans
I have discovered that I don't like lima beans. Seriously. I always thought that I didn't like them. I didn't like their shape, their color. I didn't like their texture. Holy Moly Week
OK, a quick note before I go to bed. I am a bit overwhelmed. As many will know, Holy Week is quickly upon us...like, it starts on Sunday -- Palm Sunday. Lots to do between now, and then. Peers
I have only been at this job for, eh, say five days and I have already felt the "need" for peers. Can you even believe it? I know we're taught at seminary that when we have finally gotten our churches, that one of the first things to do, besides unpack, is find a church member with whom you can have a beer, margarita or rum and coke, but also to ( Read more... ) -
Settling In....
Well, I have made it...to my new home and am not attempting to settle myself into a new place with a new job and my cat to keep me company. I am now the pastor for 5 congregations that have been working together for over 70 years.
