Ten minutes ago I found my (ill) brother in the living room downstairs, holding two garden hoses, which he'd gone and fetched from, well, the garden, and dragged inside. These hoses are huge and he's standing there clutching them, them draped around his neck, and I ask him, 'Why do you have the hoses?', and I get, 'I just fucking do, fuck off', and ( Read more... )

oh god, that's really upsetting to read, i can't imagine how it must be to live with.

It's not me it's really affecting (oh dear, I'm having a dumb moment, is it 'affecting' or 'effecting' there?), it's my poor mum :( He's like her shadow, outside of school time she never gets a moment's peace and it upsets her that she doesn't know what to do. She's discussed some things with my dad now at least but I don't think that went anywhere, and I think she's slowly trying to extract information from my brother - he often speaks of a reason why this is all happening but says that he's not allowed to say what it is - to maybe help her better assess what to do, I guess.

Thanks for the concern x

Are you looking at getting him put in a home or something? He sounds way to dangerous to keep at home.

If he doesn't improve soon, and if he refuses even to go and just speak to a doctor or something simple like that, then I think that'd possibly be the way to go, as he really is pretty bad now. Problem is, he keeps looking like he's improving, (seemingly) gets significantly better for a bit, then suddenly goes loopy again, so it's hard to judge.

This definitely sounds like it's moved from 'quirky' to 'needs help'.
