This is a way of mapping pixels from panoramic photos to generate a "spherical" view, which can generate Little Prince-style planets. For example.

A clear imitator of MS Paint Adventures, but has the distinct advantage of not being horrifically wordy. Also there's more back-and-forth between the protagonist and the Internet Voices that are telling her what to do. All very silly and great fun.

Chiptunes are pretty nifty; they're made with the square- and triangle-wave generators that old computers and videogame consoles used for their sound generation. You can pull off impressively complex music with them.

This isn't yet another project I want to do. It's something I saw at last Friday's board game night: someone had made a really quite beautiful Settlers of Catan set from lasercut wood pieces. He's evidently trying to sell them, so hey, check out his Kickstarter page if you think this is the kind of thing worth plonking down a couple hundred bucks

So there's these things called Arduino boards, which broadly exist to make it easy(-ier) for people to build their own programmed devices for doing whatever seems like a good idea. You get your board, you solder peripherals to it, the board is programmed to send signals along those soldered lines, etc. They're selling like crazy among the Maker ( Read more... )

I bought some "All Light" glowing poi balls, which are nifty things that have a set of pre-programmed color sequences they run through while you're using them. I took them out back to give them a test run, and recorded the result:
