My cousin Javi died yesterday, and we're all so confused. He had pneumonia, but was in a hospital, and getting better. His fever had dropped a bit and his breathing was getting easier. I just put in an order for a new computer... I am so excited! The one that I use (like the one that I am using right now) is slowly dying. The main concept is what if an Austen heroine was in a magical world- I started this book, and was immediately drawn in by the three main characters, Ivy, Rafferty, and Eldyn. And in the most part, it was enjoyable. Spoilers after the cut.( Read more... ) -
Michael Phelps, and other Olympic thoughts
I am so sick of hearing about him in the Olympics. It's as if he is the only athlete playing- it's getting boring. I don't want to hear about his mother (however kind she may be), I don't care how much he eats, or the fact that he has a crazy schedule. Poor little girl.
This is so sad.In a human way, the way it serves to utterly destroy the self image of a small child. It's great to be chosen because one has a great voice, so it's a shame that they didn't present Yang Peiyi, the 7-year-old who sang the Chinese national anthem at the Opening Ceremony. Olympics
So, I adore the Olympics. It is not the sport of it- most of the time, sports bore me- but rather, the fact that for many of the athletes it is their dream, and there is so much drama, and they are so thrilled and pained and the emotion of it all.
