Venus Transit - 6/5/12

On the 5th of June, much of the world was treated to one of the rarest of all predicted events - a transit of Venus across the disk of the Sun. Visible as an extremely dark, sharp 'dot', this is the silhouette of planet seen against the intensely brilliant disk of our Sun. Awesome transit images!

I missed it due to lack of proper equipment, and it didn't even occur to me to try a sunset shot...

We were covered in trees and I had a lot of work to do, so I didn't even try for this, but kept some live webcams going as I worked.

My daughter and her boyfriend are lucky, as they live in Victoria, Australia and actually got to see it happen the entire day. At some point they went to an observatory.
