My cell phone is spontaneously developing new features such as Random Mute Mode, Display-Call-But-Refuse-To-Pick-Up Mode, Auto-Disconnect, and Translate-To-Mandarin. While the latter is very interesting, it only works from Aramaic ( Read more... )

Yes, I'm seriously regretting this Verizon contract. Nice coverage, but too limiting.

I'm not sure of the compatibility across carriers, but I have a Sprint Treo 650 I wouldn't mind giving up

Any chance it's unlocked? Verizon says they need a Verizon phone and can't unlock. I suspect I can find out how online, but I haven't looked yet.

Hunh. I think our old phones may well be CDMA. I'll check when I get home. Of course, their equivalent could be picked up for $1 at the UW's Surplus Store--maybe you can find something similar at a university near you? Probably cheaper than postage...

Ack.
A little research has revealed that the Treo 650 I'm using does NOT in fact use a SIM chip, so I need to go poke Verizon and ask exactly what I need to do to switch phones.

I'd planned on just swapping SIMs and calling it a day; it may be more involved.
