Just got a 315 score in Scrabble! Only the second time I broke 300, I think, and it was partly due to an awesome opportunity to play "jewish" with the j on double letter score on the first turn. my brother got the q, z, k, and x, though, so it wasn't like all the good letters went my way (though i got more points out of his q than he did :D ( Read more... )

The last couple days I've been reminded of how badly I succeed sometimes at dealing with my life in a normal fashion. Most of the time I coast through pretty nicely, and people at work thank me for exuding such calm (clearly, these are people who don't know me very well). Katie sent me a burn copy of the new Band of Horses album (*) (with the album title and song names written on it in different color markers), and I love it. I think I like it better than the new Arcade Fire, as hard as that is to admit. But I don't think I can take someone seriously whose lyrics are as heavy-handed as Win Butler's. Went to Zwolle to see my dad in the hospital today. I was nervous as hell and worried, but when I got there he was sitting in the hallway, fully dressed and normal-looking, chatting on his cell phone. I felt better immediately.
