Interesting weekend: I had what you might call a "blind date" on Friday night. She's a fiercely intelligent pop culture scholar at UT who also dabbles in rugby. We talked about academia a bunch, and whether the researcher should insert their personal narrative into their work (I say no; she says absolutely).
