A lightning strike on Friday knocked out my cable modem, and I have been without internet service at home since then. I had a technician appointment on Monday. The fine fellows over at Penny Arcade are holding a World of Warcraft-themed contest, to write a ten-word short story with a WoW Theme. The award is a bunch of WoW collectible card game crap, but the contest idea sounded like fun, so I threw in an entry anyway.

I have decided that the reason IKEA is always packed is that nobody can ever find the exit. They just walk in sad, lost circles, subsisting on salmon and meatballs, until they lose all hope. Then they purchase the flatpack ENDE coffin, assemble it with the provided Allen wrench, and climb in.

I went in for a preliminary exam for LASIK today. I'm a fine candidate for the procedure, which I will get done next week.

The interesting thing revealed by the exam, however, is that my vision has apparently improved dramatically in the few years since I last got an eye exam. This explains why I have hated to wear my glasses anytime I am doing ( Read more... )
