Turtle graphics, anyone?
During my exploration of Lego robotics, I happened upon mention of the Scratch project of the MIT media lab.
So I downloaded it. And within a few minutes, noticed that it contained a number of ideas familiar to me from LOGO, back when I was in junior high school.
Soon thereafter, I felt compelled to ( recreate a classic turtle graphics exercise ) -
iTunes videos on the TiVo
I have a fair number of non-DRM videos in iTunes on our Mac, mainly so they can be loaded onto my iPod Touch for the kids to watch. I really didn't want to buy an AppleTV so I could show them on the TV in our living room, and it seemed like it ought to be possible using the TiVo ( Read more... ) -
Those poor rich people
The Tax Foundation announced Wednesday that in 2007, more taxes were paid by the top 1% (40% of total income tax revenues) than the bottom 95% (39% of total income tax revenues). I find it surprising that the Republican Party, which always tries to position itself as being in favor of "Family Values," is about to select a Vice Presidential candidate who has a four-month-old baby ( Read more... ) -
Sidewalks
Did you know that there are people who object to sidewalks? I had no idea until I heard about it on the radio this morning. Apparently, some people in my county feel that sidewalks are unsightly and interfere with the character of their neighborhoods. You know your life has changed...
You know your life has changed since becoming a parent when you see a contest for a trip to the Olympics in China and you don't even enter, because you know there's no way you could go. -
Well, I voted.
I voted for Obama. I hope I don't come to regret my decision.
I realized two things over the last few days:
1) One of the reasons this is so hard is that it's the first time I've ever felt that my primary election vote actually mattered. Usually, the contest has been over by the time I voted.
