I seem to be photoblogging once a month now, and we're about due for an installment.

Whoa. Been absent quite a long time again, most of that time swallowed up by work, but on the tail end my dad has been in the hospital much too long with complications after what should have been a simple operation. He's pretty much recovered from that, though, and should be out next week.

Thanks to Beachbum Berry Remixed, I have been introduced to the Marlin, a cocktail named for the blue fish because it is made with blue-dyed curaçao liqueur. Blue drinks are generally insipid or over-sweet; the Marlin is neither, and quite delicious. I decided I needed some variety this evening, though, and mixed a variation:

Last year I wrote:Every so often, and no more than twice a year, I manage to have a fit of incredible energy on a very busy day. Today was one of those days, and after patching servers at 5:30 AM, I hopped on my bike and rode to work.
That experience was repeated last Wednesday, when I hitched a ride from my neighbor to work after 5:30 patching. I ( Read more... )

The Haggin Institute for Advanced Mixology augmented its library on Father's Day with Beachbum Berry Remixed, a new edition of the seminal studies in alcoholic archaeology that unearthed the real recipes for the best cocktails of the Tiki heyday (1930s-1960s).
