phrases that annoy me:

• "slippery slope"  and more specifically, how often it is used in otherwise intelligent conversation.  There are many other ways to articulate the same concept that don't sound so ridiculous.
• the concept of "wearing different hats" when you have a variety of roles to play.  This may stem from a childhood phrase I hated as a kid ( Read more... )

These town hall meetings have been making me think about Americans and our perception of the world and our country.  I think that since we are so big (mass) and isolated most haven't traveled outside the country. So they believe what the media tells them the world is like.  Passports should be mandatory and everyone should have to spend at least ( Read more... )

I now live in Brooklyn.  It has been a weird couple of days.  I was fairly emotionless throughout the whole move but once I got hear my heart just broke.  I felt so far from home, so far from my friends and my city.  I felt groundless, floating without anything tying me down.  It was awful....and weird since I "visit" here every couple of months ( Read more... )

although a small part of me disagrees, the majority of me agrees that it would be wonderful to fly backwards in time, or jump to another place, where having my period means i get to hang out on a mossy rock for a while and swim in cleansing streams.
