I need advice.

This is probably the stupidest question ever but I'm really torn as to whether or not I should quit cheerleading for the 2006-2007 school year. I've been a cheerleader since 7th grade and as stupid as it sounds, it's really a huge part of me. I've always wanted to be that varsity cheerleader, blah blah blah. Now that I am one, the only thing on ( Read more... )

DONT quit. I went through the same thing with lacrosse - it was horrible because i wasent close with the seniors and everyone always said really mean things to me/behind my back. So my lacrosse season pretty much sucked but think about it..next year you're gonna be a senior and all of those girls will be gone. You're gonna have so much fun if you stick with it between homecomming and all of the football games, plus its not like anyone is going to give you shit if you're a senior. If you quit and your friends stay on, you'll probably regret it. I hope i helped :/

if you decide to leave, even though we got off the team in entirely different ways i can tell you that not being put back on cheerleading was probably one of the best things that's happened to me throughout the years. after it was all over i had so many options and i got really into my dancing and i'm really happy, and it just feels right because im doing something so much more productive with my time. so i think if you decide to leave and get a job instead if you're really 100% passionate about it you'll find yourself better off then you would be cheerleading. i highly doubt that colleges are going to look heavily into your cheerleading, and i think they will be more interested in you getting a job and showing your financial responsibility. and just in case you want to hear it from a spectator's point of view..i kind of agree with the "5 year old cheering," and i'm sure a lot of other people agree.

thank you. your opinion really matters to me because i need someone who's actually in my shoes. I was thinking about staying on for football season and quitting for basketball but i'm still thinking. thanks so much.

as for the application perspective, colleges look down upon joining activities late in high school much more so than dropping one right before senior year, because it is very obvious that the only reason you join is for the application...i really don't think it would hurt your application at all because they have no idea what the circumstances are and your reasons for dropping the activity (your family could be in a bad financial situation and it might be necessary to get a job.

as for your own personal feelings, only you can decide!

i think you should do whatever you want. if you wanna quit, i'll let you know i wont give you shit at all. because your reasons for not wanting to do it are understandable and if you dont wanna do it tihnk of how unhappy your gonna be sitting there cheering when you really dont wanna be there at all...but then again you know your gonna probably wanna do it at some part and probably feel like a huge part of you is missing cause you have been doing it since 7th grade ya know? i say just do whatever you want because its your senior year so if your gonna be unhappy dont put yourself through that cause this is your year to do what YOU want .
