I was driving through Elizabeth today and I saw this guy riding his bike, sitting completely upright. In his right hand was an enormous shopping bag AND a dish of ice cream. In his left hand was a spoon. Dude ate three or four leisurely bites of ice cream, spoon to mouth while I stared from the car with a goofy grin on my face.

I got out of work thursday night around 11.30 to find my car smooshed. Turns out some charmer decided to get wasted and plow into a few things before hitting a tree, one of those things being my car. So, I'm back at my folks' where I spent my Sunday off seeing cars that just don't look all that appealing and calling insurance companies. Bah.

- filtered water
- oatmeal
- raisins
- 2 bottles Bass Ale

So, add in the bananas and leftover broccolli w/garlic sauce I'm about to steal from my mother and I think I'm set.

Now, I realize I've been rather incommunicado over the last several....months, but things have been crazy and hectic and I've been very wrapped up in my own stuff (which is sometimes nice and sometimes just overwhelming). I realize this thing has become all about my as of yet unsuccessful job search, except for when I'm writing about the jobs I don't want anymore. Dustin was here last week and we had a really nice time, aside from two Sundays ago, which I'll just refer to as "the lost day" or "the day we spent eight hours buying a shirt." I was browsing restaurant sites just now, working on my cover letter (yes, I know I'm behind, but it's almost finished) and at the bottom of a list of very haute cuisine entrees, seared duck and whatnot with wine reduction sauces blah blah blah served with truffle butter, I read "WE ALWAYS HAVE THE MEATLOAF 17.95." That's the number of restaurants I'll be sending letters and resumes to next week. I'm scared of two things. First, that I'll get a few calls, find something that seems decent and end up miserable and the second, that I'll get no response at all and have to come up with a new strategy or stay in these two exhausting, dull, painful, thankless jobs.
