Yes, red oak.  That's the picture you see on this post today.  It also happens to be my my wood of choice for building projects.  I'm not sure what the next project will be.  Maybe a new vanity for the bathroom or bookshelves for the office.  It'll probably be a long time before I get to work on anything down in the shop.

Okay, so we just got back from seeing Order of the Phoenix for the, ahem, second time.  Yes, we went opening night at midnight and then again tonight, though at the 9:00 instead of the later.  I am officially just as happy the second time as I was the first time.  My thoughts on the movie - just for the sake of posterity - are in the paragraphs ( Read more... )

Well, we went to have the 20-week ultrasound and... the technician couldn't be absolutely positive.  We were in there for a very long time and finally the woman running the machine said she could only look for another minute or two.  Up to that point it had been impossible to tell the sex of the baby.  Apparently legs and umbilical cord were ( Read more... )
