Twisting Paths of the Dungeon, Somewhere, Wednesday, Day One

Apr 10, 2013 07:42

The pathways of the dungeon had changed overnight. Anyone who had stayed in a room beyond their welcome had found themselves booted out back onto the hallways that belonged to their camp. Those doors had closed. Other doors had now opened.

As had other routes.

This door seems ordinary, but come close and you'll find it reeks of dead flesh.

Take a step through, and find yourself back near Fandom's lawn, in front of a large barricade. If you run quickly, you might reach the school or dorms and find the supplies hidden within: food left behind in the cafeteria and the common rooms, clothes lying around the rooms (though oddly, those items seem to belong to a previous generation of students). There are also berries in the bushes behind the school, and bunnies and deer still occupy the preserve.

If you run in the wrong direction, you'll run straight into that moaning mob of zombies - some of which might look familiar - might just turn you into a snack.

[ zombieverse bde! if you need an NPC, let us know. the same rules hold here as for vampverse: if you get bitten, you're a zombie for the rest of the plot. if you had a character around during the zombieverse, you are welcome to guest star them here, including if they are currently dropped. ]

So Priestly had originally decided to give the stanky-ass door a miss -- only to end up at a dead-end corridor that seemed to have been filled with South African soccer hooligans. By the time he found his way around and back to the stinky door again, he figured anything had to be better than getting your ears blown off by plastic trumpets.

But, oh, this place was way too familiar. He remembered that barricade. He remembered fending off zombies with a mop handle. He bolted for the school, broken fence from the vampire Fandom still in hand, ready to stab anyone who exaggerated their vowels too much.

"You're here too?" Dean asked, frowning at him. Seriously now, Priestly. This is a dangerous place to be.

Hey, Priestly killed a vampire with his best friend's face yesterday. Compared to that, zombies were easy.

"I was actually in high school for this one," he said, indicating the dorms with his broken fence post. "Figure there might be some supplies in here somewhere."

"That's pretty messed up." And his whole life was messed up. But Dean was sticking close, pulling the recently acquired machete.

"Welcome to Fandom." Priestly eyed the machete with suspicion. "Tell me you didn't sleep with that thing." He had a mental image of Dean cuddling it like a teddy-bear, and that was just wrong.

"What?" He wished. "No. Had fight some robots for it."

"How the hell do you fight a robot?"

Somehow, robot-fighting was still not part of Priestly's Fandom experience.

Dean gave him a look that pine eased just how awesome his skills were to defeat them. When in reality it was a lot of running and shooting and bleeding on things.

But at least the head wound stopped bleeding.

Priestly couldn't hold that against him, that was most of how he'd defeated vamp!Dinah yesterday. Minus the shooting.

"You should get that looked at," he said, pointing to the presumably visible what with bleeding head wound with one bag-bandaged hand. "It could get infected."

"When we get back." He was a pro at dealing with injuries without any supplies.

Priestly slunk up to the door to the dorms, holding the fence post like a club in one hand. Didn't look like anyone was wandering around hankering for brains, but he figured it didn't hurt to be careful.

"Wonder if my dorm room's the same," he muttered, then looked back at Dean. "Hey, I don't remember seeing you at the camp."

Dean frowned at that too. "You either. There's more than one camp?"

Well, thank god he ended up in the same one with Sam.

"Guess there must be," Priestly said. "Was kind of hoping the folks I wasn't seeing around were back home." Like Momoko and Karla and everyone else.

Dinah . . . well, he thought he knew what'd happened to her. He swallowed hard and started through the door. "What's yours look like? We've got the whole dungeon chic going on in mine."

"Same decorator," Dean replied. "With added annoying vampires and demons. This place is freakin' messed up."

"Evil vampires?" Priestly asked. Maybe that explained what'd happened to poor Dinah. If they'd managed to catch her before she woke up or something, she wouldn't have been able to TK them off of her. . . .

He just had to keep reminding himself that she might be just fine when this was all over. Hell, he'd died twice, apparently, and he was still at it, right?
