The mockingbirds have returned, always a lovely sign of spring. However, imagine my surprise this morning when I discovered that the mockingbird that has taken up residence in the tree outside my window has learned to imitate my alarm clock. Sigh. I guess it could be worse. Last year, it was cell phones.

I played a house concert last night with a band I've never played with before on half an hour of "rehearsal." Not perhaps the most brilliant job I've ever done, but it was OK, and my friend, the leader of the band, was very grateful for the assistance. It's the season when I remember that folks have been asking for copies of off_coloratura's and xinamarie's recording, including, this year, several from my school. What an amazing event today! The class went to the book fair, the one for which we made the coat of arms mentioned in my last entry. As we were leaving, one of the kids pointed out a large bird flying overhead. We're studying city wildlife, so the kids are always doing this. He thought it was a red tail hawk.
