01 02 03 04 05 06 Hyunseung is warmer than he's ever felt, which he almost notes out loud before he realizes why that is. The words that come out instead aren't much better. "Your shirt. It's falling apart."
Junhyung, who has just woken up, as well, groans and shoves at the other's shoulder, successfully knocking him off the couch and onto a heap on the floor.
"You're the most romantic man I've ever met," Yoseob remarks from where he's curled up on one of the armchairs, then stretches a leg out to kick at one of Junhyung's exposed feet. "I'm talking to you."
Hyunseung groans, as well, before pulling himself up until he's seated in front of the couch. He doesn't have the energy to stand up completely.
"Who knocks their boyfriend onto the floor?" Yoseob asks around a yawn.
"He's not my boyfriend," Hyunseung answers for Junhyung, who is as close to snoring as he can get.
"Seriously?" Yoseob asks with all the disbelief he can muster. "You guys are still saying that?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Shut up or leave," Junhyung grumbles as he rolls over to face the front of the couch. "Not you," he corrects, reaching one lazy hand out to tug at Hyunseung's hair.
Hyunseung, who has managed to collapse against the couch, brings a hand up to swat at Junhyung's, but misses entirely and ends up slapping himself in the side of the head. He groans again, curling up on himself in an attempt to return to the heat he'd had a few minutes before.
"This is what I'm talking about," Yoseob points out. "Suddenly I'm second banana."
"You were already second banana," Junhyung mutters, unwilling to move his mouth enough to make sure he made sense, and unwilling to care if anyone could really hear him. "Now you're third."
Yoseob makes a noise of outrage as Junhyung tugs on Hyunseung's hair again. "Second banana," Junhyung continues when he discovers that Hyunseung isn't going to stop him from pulling his hair.
"Hn?" Hyunseung manages to force out, already halfway asleep again.
"Come back up here." When Hyunseung simply grunts and doesn't move, Junhyung is forced to open his eyes. "It's cold."
"You shouldn't have pushed him off the couch," Yoseob offers, moving to stand from the chair as he stretches his legs out.
"I thought he was you," Junhyung admits, closing his eyes again.
Yoseob squawks in outrage again, and Hyunseung jumps in surprise, blinking as he looks around. He waits another moment in his half-awake stupor before pushing himself up to climb back onto the couch. He makes room by elbowing Junhyung in the side and pushing him as far back as he can before he settles down again.
"You both suck," Yoseob grumbles as he makes his way over to the front door. "I'm going to visit Doojoon. I'm going to tell him there's too much snuggling going on over here for my liking. I'm sure he'll love that."
"If you go over there," Junhyung starts as he shifts around to get comfortable, which ends with them in the same position as they'd been before they woke up, with Hyunseung pressed up against his side. "I'll disown you. Forever."
"Fine, whatever," Yoseob responds, too loudly, as he pulls on his shoes. "But I'm coming back. With doughnuts. And anyone still asleep goes hungry."
"Just leave," Junhyung mutters, and is more than happy when he hears the door slam shut. He knows Yoseob isn't really mad. He knows that because the two have them have been talking a lot over the past few weeks and his best friend knows exactly what's going on in his head. Turns out, Yoseob is an amazing actor when he puts his mind to it.
Junhyung waits until he's sure Yoseob is gone before turning again, adjusting his position so he's facing Hyunseung completely. There's no hesitation before he kisses him, but it can hardly be called that at all, just a mere brushing of lips, but they both understand it for what it is.
"Why do you keep letting me kiss you?" Junhyung asks, his voice still slow and tired.
"Because nobody has ever wanted to kiss me before," Hyunseung answers after he wakes up enough for coherent thought.
"You don't kiss me back."
"I fall in love too easily."
Junhyung opens his eyes at that, but Hyunseung is already close to falling asleep again.
"You're a bastard," Hyunseung continues, his words slurred. "Wouldn't want to fall in love with a bastard."
"You fell in love with a jerk," Junhyung points out.
They both laugh weakly, still too tired to really put forth any sort of effort.
"I could make you fall for me," Junhyung mutters, and Hyunseung isn't sure if it's a promise or a threat.
"Like I said," Hyunseung starts, then sighs contently. "I fall in love easily."
"So do it."
Hyunseung's eyes open slowly to meet Junhyung's. He's confused and curious and he just wishes that Junhyung would stop being so cryptic about everything. If the other is going to involve himself in his life, he could at least be straightforward about it.
"Is that what you want?" Hyunseung asks after a long pause.
Junhyung doesn't answer, deciding instead to simply wrap an arm around the older man's waist. He closes his eyes and lets out a long, relaxing breath. He's fully prepared to go back to sleep before Hyunseung speaks again.
"I should go home."
"Not yet," Junhyung replies quickly. "Just stay."
"I'll be right next door. You have classes anyway, right?"
"Cancelled. I picked up a shift at work instead." Hyunseung starts to respond, but Junhyung cuts him off. "Later. Much later. Stop talking."
Hyunseung grins to himself, glad that the other can't see it. He feels bold while Junhyung isn't watching, and leans into his hold. He waits until the younger man's breathing is steady before tipping his head up and pressing a kiss to his bottom lip. When Junhyung doesn't move, Hyunseung is sure he's gotten away with it, then settles back down to sleep, too.
Neither of them are awake when Yoseob returns and he doesn't have the heart to wake them up. If they weren't cuddling before, they certainly were now, and he was already preparing an arsenal of teasing lines for the next time they're both awake. He also doesn't hesitate to take a few pictures, just for the record.
When they wake up another hour later, Yoseob is already gone and there's a box of doughnuts on the kitchen table, though all of them are mysteriously missing a bite or are squashed down flat. They eat them anyway.
Hyunseung stays until Junhyung has to go to work, and when he goes back to his own apartment, he's met with the sound of Doojoon and his boyfriend's bedroom activities. He decides that he doesn't care and moves about the apartment, taking care of his own business, but when they haven't finished twenty minutes later, he finds himself sitting on his bed with his headphones on as loud as they go, though it still doesn't drown out everything. He realizes that he still does care. He also realizes that he wishes Junhyung was still home because he's come to rely on the other for support in this. Junhyung always seems to understand, even if neither of them say anything.
The following evening, Junhyung returns home to find Hyunseung milling around outside his apartment, most likely waiting for him to come home. It's late, he observes, after checking his watch. The older man stops, turns to face him, and smiles when he's finally aware of his presence. Junhyung doesn't tell him that he's been watching him for five minutes.
"Locked out of your place?" he asks off-handedly, trying to ease Hyunseung's obvious nervousness.
"No," Hyunseung answers quietly, and all at once, Junhyung hears what's going on in the other's apartment and nods.
Without another word, Junhyung moves to his door and unlocks it, letting them both in from the bitter cold of the hallway. He moves over to the stereo to turn it on, aware without even having to look that Hyunseung is stripping himself of his outer wear and making himself comfortable on the couch. He walks into his room and comes back out a few minutes later, his hand fisted and closed around what he'd been looking for. He takes his place beside his neighbor on the couch before reaching out to set the object in his hand.
"A key?" Hyunseung asks, looking up at him curiously.
"So you can come in when I'm not here," Junhyung explains with a grin. "In case something like this happens again."
Hyunseung returns the grin before pulling his key ring out of his pocket to slide the new key on it. "Thank you."
"I should have given it to you weeks ago."
"It's okay. It might feel weird being in here without you."
"You know you're always welcome here."
"It's not that," Hyunseung replies and Junhyung waits for him to continue. "It's just that you and this place go hand-in-hand for me. It makes me feel safe," he explains before realizing what he's saying. He turns away, a light blush dusting his features.
"I'm glad," is all Junhyung says in reply, one hand coming up to slide along the other's jaw.
"His boyfriend hasn't left since yesterday," Hyunseung announces, then sighs. "I only saw Doojoon briefly this morning."
"Did he say anything to you?"
"He said hi and then grabbed a bottle of soda from the fridge. It was strange."
"You miss him already, don't you?"
Hyunseung looks up at the other again, his head tilting to the side, curious.
"As your best friend."
"I guess I do," Hyunseung agrees. "I shouldn't have said what I did. He probably thinks I'm such a creep now."
"If he can't see you, he's as blind as he is stupid, and you and I both know just how high I regard his intelligence."
"I guess I'm easy to miss. Maybe I should have been throwing myself at him this whole time."
"Maybe you were but he never saw it."
"That's not something that's easy to miss," Hyunseung informs him with a chuckle, but goes quiet when he sees the serious look on Junhyung's face.
Junhyung looks down, then back up. It's the closest Hyunseung has ever seen of him being insecure or nervous. He never would have thought the younger man even had those emotions in him.
"Have you noticed me throwing myself at you?" Junhyung asks after the silence becomes too much for him to handle.
"You haven't been..." Hyunseung starts, his eyes scanning the other's face carefully. Surely he wasn't serious? "Junhyung. Wait. Is this some sort of confession?"
"I'm never going to say the words," Junhyung admits, then shrugs a shoulder. "Even if I feel that way for you, I won't say those words. Makes me uncomfortable. I don't like being uncomfortable."
"Junhyung..."
"But, yes," Junhyung says with a nod. "Now do you understand?"
Hyunseung still doesn't completely understand, but he feels like he's getting close. When he shakes his head slowly, Junhyung just smiles. It's not a large smile, but it's a kind and genuine one. Junhyung stands from the couch, reaching down to take the other by the hand and looks quite satisfied when Hyunseung willingly stands to follow him.
"I'm tired," Junhyung announces, tugging at the hand in his own, then awkwardly steps back, leading his neighbor into the bedroom. Doojoon and his boyfriend have gone quiet, and Hyunseung is glad for that when Junhyung pushes him gently toward the bed as he closes his bedroom door.
