Title: Fear is Now
Characters: Kirk

Summary: Kirk thought he knew what fear was. He faces a new type of it.
Fear. Did James T. Kirk really know what that was? Up until that point, he thought he had. He had many brushes with death and witnessed many others. It was prominent in the crew of the Enterprise; they had faced so many challenges before.
But fear was now. Kirk was face-to-face with a new enemy, sparking in him a new kind of fear. Chained to a wall, shirtless and bleeding, Kirk tried to lift his head. Part of the struggle was because he was so tired and weak. Part of the struggle was because he didn't want to face the man in front of him.
After a couple seconds of pumping himself up, he slowly lifted his head, trying to show anger and strength with his eyes and a pair of pursed lips. With a cool voice, he tried to say a couple words. Negotiate. His words were just matched with a whip across the face, stinging him so badly he wanted to vomit.
He kept calm, though-just as he always did-when in the face of danger. Accepting the fear of being injured or killed, he put on a strong facade again, and raised his head one more time.
