I'm trying to change the proverb Is fiach air duine na gheallas e. from third person singular to first person singular and am uncertain about the final pronoun e. Does that refer to the debt (fiach (nm)), a promise (geall (nm)) or the man himself (duine (nm)).

My thought is that the augumented pronoun na is a reflexive pronoun, which would mean ( Read more... )

An Litir Bheag this week is about the names of fingers and I'm wondering ... Does Gaelic have a phrase that corresponds with the English "twiddling" thumbs? Or do the Scottish Gaelgoers not engage in this activity. How about "spinning their wheels"?

A friend's mare just had a Palomino filly and my friend wants to give her the name "Gold" or "Golden Prize" in Gaelic. Sadly, she only has me to turn to and my skills stink. I got ór, okay for "Gold" but think she's probably going to not want such a very short name. So I come begging help. Thanks in advance.
