I had the same problem with Facebook, and it was likely with the same people. Basically, I came to the conclusion that one of the main goals of their college career is to amass as many "friends" that they don't talk to as they can. In fact, one girl from UST has already amassed 445 UST kids, myself included, and I can personally guarantee that she has talked to less than 30 of them. Basically, I'd suggest just accepting it and then never talking to them again. Let them stroke their own egos, and then be done with it, because it'd be easier, and nicer than being a giant asshole, even though being the asshole is the right thing to do.
